Device Update Needed

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that we have discovered an issue where the app store is telling users to update their device firmware even though they are running the current version. This means that they are unable to download until the store thinks that they have the correct version. We do have a ticket open to address the issue and the fix should be implemented soon, but we wanted to let you know as we know that you field many emails and posts from users as well. Thanks for your patience and for continuing to grow our community!

  • I connected my 735 this evening and that went into Manage Apps just fine. I went back to the Edge 1000 and got the same Server Error. So then I disconnected the Edge 1000 and then restarted it. Now both errors I listed above stopped occurring. I had disconnected and reconnected many times today but I don't know when I didn't think to restart the device itself for a Server Error.


    I wanted to let you know that there was a unique issue happening with the Edge 1000. A fix should be in place on the server-side quickly as this issue shuts off app store functionality for the Edge 1000.

  • I have the same problem plus my favourite strava live segments are missing with fw 10.00. I tried all of the options written above.
    I go back to fw 9.20 magic happens; Connect IQ works properly and the strava live segments are working and updated properly.
    Then I update my device to fw 10.00 and I have the same problems again.
    I think there is a problem with fw 10.00
  • Any update on this? I'm still getting 'Contact Developer" messages about it on the va-hr and fr 23x. Only a few a week, but the latest was last night. (I sent my standard response and just heard back that it worked..)

    no way .
    to install some apps (from smartphone) tells me that the app requires an update to 235 to do with garmin express ...

    Im having the same issue with my new 735XT, have tried all 3 recommended workarounds with no joy.

    Does anyone know when this is going to be fixed? or if I should try something else?

    Tech Support suggested the following which worked for me:

    I would recommend following the below the steps to remove the XML file from your device.
    Windows:
    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Computer
    3. Open the Garmin drive
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    6. Eject the GPS device from the computer
    7. Power on the device
    Mac:
    1. Plug the GPS device into the computer
    2. Open the Garmin drive
    3. Open the Garmin folder
    4. Delete the GarminDevice.XML file
    5. Eject the GPS device from the computer.
    Once your device has successfully powered on it will automatically create new XML file. You can then reconnect your device to the PC.

    I would also recommend updating Garmin Express.

    To manually check for a Garmin Express update:
    Windows:
    1. Open Garmin Express
    2. Click the Gear icon in the upper right
    3. Click Check for updates to Express in the About section
    4. Click Install Now if prompted
    Mac:
    1. Open Garmin Express
    2. Click Garmin Express in the Apple menu bar
    3. Click About Garmin Express
    4. Click Check for Application Updates
    5. Click Install Now if prompted
    Once the installation is complete, Garmin Express will be up to date.
