Unfair reviews - does Garmin care?

I have a datafield „Edge MapFields“ on store - with 2 identical clones on user request. Since GPLama has recommended this datafield in a video there are thousands of downloads recently - mostly with 5 star reviews. On clone #3 I‘ve got a one-star review saying: „Non funziona, non viene installata come da immagine“ - which means: „It doesn't work, it doesn't install as pictured“.
I flagged this review as inappropriate - but Garmin seems not to care at all.
Have you experience how Garmin handle this? Or do you think, it is not inappropriate?

  • As someone with a bit under 3M total downloads, if I got a review like

"This app crashes 9 out of 10 times" my reply would clearly be something like

Please use "Contact developer, and include what device you have and info on when the crash happens"

If the user doesn't do it, your options are limited.

    What would you do?

  • It’s not about what you or I would do, it’s about what the user feels justified in putting in their reviews, and what Garmin will allow.

Strava has 300k reviews on the iOS store and surely 10s of millions of downloads (there are ~100 million users total).

Guess what, users complain about bugs, crashes and missing features in reviews all the time. Is it ok bc Strava is “big” and they have a subscription option?

Like I said I tend to agree with everything that devs are saying here, I just disagree that the behavior of users can be changed or that Garmin will do anything about it.

  • and what Garmin will allow.

Garmin isn't going to spend much time determining what is "inappropriate". The option is mostly there to report offensive stuff or spam (stuff they can quickly determine is a problem).

Yeah I agree 100% and that’s the point I was trying to make.

Devs can’t stop users from submitting these reviews and Garmin isn’t going to censor them either.
