Problems with vscode extension and sdkmanager on linux

Hello,

I just downloaded the sdkmanager and the vscode extension.

Vscode couldn't find the extension, so i downloaded it from the website and installed it manually. Then, i restarded vscode, but when in press cntrl+shift+p and type "verify extension", i cant find anything from monkeyc.

Sdkmanager started and installed without any bigger problems, but also here, its not possible, to type any command like monkeydo, because the command can't be found.

Did somebody experienced anything similar on linux and can help me fixing this?

  • connect iq indeed only support ubuntu lts releases (and even when using those it seems like an issue where sometimes old libraries are referenced). You can use arch linux if you want, but you're basically on your own when you're using that one.

Yes, but why are you still using Linux?

one reason can be that you don't need to purchase a license to use the os.

  • I've tried with Ubuntu and the latest version of the SDK Manager tries to load what appears to be a version of libwebkit2gtk (v4.0.37) which seems hard to find which and makes the manager impossible to load. Consequently I used the method mentioned in this 5 year old post and got the latest linux SDK successfully. I'm guessing no one uses the VS code extension though and just builds on the command line, or has someone figured out how to get around the extension constantly trying to find the SDK manager? I mean, windoze works if Ubuntu is not an option, but was wondering if anyone has figured out a workaround (BTW, if someone tries to turn this into a political discussion, I will just ignore you so don't bother).

  • I've just had occasion to want to create a datafield and am doing so using vscode on Fedora 42. I'm not exactly sure how I set it up since it seems I did it a few months ago and then forgot about it. vscode isn't attempting to start the sdkmanager as far as I can see. Compilation works fine as does running the simulator.
