Simulator 4.1 activity playback, anyone get it working?

First off, I really like the updates in the 4.1 simulator. The profiler will really help with code optimizations.

I am having problems however when I try to play back a recorded fit file. I assume I am doing something wrong, but can't figure out what. I start off with opening the activity data window from Simulation > Activity data. It took me about 5 times to learn I have to leave the window open for the simulator to keep using the activity simulation. In the next window I select simulation for the data source, then click on the play arrow and it will start the timer, the arrow will switch to a Pause icon, and I can see the info show up in the device app. If I select file for the data source, then click load file and pick my fit. I see the play arrow activate, but nothing happens when I click on it. It stays as an arrow and the timer does not start.

I have tried multiple different FIT files I have to see if it was something with the file. I even deleted the SDK and re-downloaded it. The menu seems pretty straight forward, but I can't figure this one out. If you have got this to work in the 4.1 simulator, I would appreciate some hints.

In eclipse and VS Code I have.

Start running your app, Start this, then select Simulation> Activity Data to open the window.

Then select file or simulation as the data source, Once you have a data source, Click on the "play" symbol in the lower left.

The dot on the lower line of the sim will turn green,

Note! The window for the Activity Data must remain open, or the flow of data stops.

Jim, Thanks for the steps. That is the exact process I am following. It works fine when I select simulation, but not when I select file. Even a reboot did not work to allow me to playback a file.

Ok, so I'm seeing the same with load file, Looks like a bug. I'm been using simulate data.

This bug was fixed in SDK 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 but appears to be broken again in 4.1.3. If I select a fit/gpx file then select the file, the play button greys out as soon as I select the file. If I select data simulation, I can press play. I have a few different FIT files I use so I can test specific things in a repeatable manor. Simulate data can work as a stop gap, but the file playback should work also.

I also see it's broken again in 4.1.3 with any fit file I've tried.

FWIW, the GPX playback works in 4.1.3, but I have some issues with how it handles speed and time.

Alan.raceQs thank for the tip. I exported a GPX of the fit file I have been using. It appears to playback in GPX format. The problem is I don't get any of the HR or other data that is in the file. I hope they can fix using the FIT file format soon.
