Lots of unfair developers (Garmin, where are you?)

Hello guys!

I am terribly annoyed by the fact that a bunch of similar applications appeared in the app store, in which not a drop of heart and effort was invested. At the same time, the number of such applications and developers is growing rapidly.

For example:

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/c506e11c-06a8-48a8-9c2f-441e3dd87234/apps

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/9600e368-ac57-4091-a52f-e45b6e507af5/apps

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/180d3966-8870-4362-af71-575b78c8d6b3/apps

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/3f5c726a-cf05-4c3a-b840-c315ccbd4bb8/apps

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/d4dd2adf-d651-4414-9984-01dc83420eb4/apps

Aside from their gaudy watch faces, what do all these developers have in common? That they use the KiezelPay payment system. For this, there is a separate group in Discord, where their curator gives advice on how to sell and what to do to increase your profit.

The developers release a large number of empty updates for their applications and winds up reviews from a large number of their devices. Obviously, all of his applications do not carry any aesthetic or unique meaning, and the developers are trying to sell it for real money. I am not satisfied with the fact that his applications are constantly shown in the list of popular ones, but we understand that this is only because they have given their applications a large number of positive reviews from their accounts. Please consider blocking these developers or limiting their stay in popular applications.

Thank you for attention! And please express your opinion. It seems to me that now a global problem is being born for the entire Garmin ecosystem, which does not pay attention to such developers and does not try to improve the app's rating and ranking system.

  • I suspect they're just stealing data.

Can anyone find source code for those things?

1- what value does whatever data they could be using have?

2- If they were stealing data, why would they provide the source code as evidence?

  • It's paying people to leave reviews.

It isn't the same but it's still unseemly.

  • I gotta be honest: I am quite taken aback about this whole thread.

Well, not by the thread itself but by the fact that you, one of the worst offenders, have raised it.

The guidelines (https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/app-review-guidelines/) clearly state the following:

    No Review or Rating Manipulation

You must not perform or encourage any action that creates deceptive reviews or manipulates your app’s rating.

You hide it rather well but I have clear proof:

It disgusts me seeing how someone like you tricks the system to stay in trending. You are a disgrace to all the other devs who genuinely try to come up with some original designs of their own (and not just port Garmin faces to other models) and work hard.

I wish you’d be excluded from the platform entirely.

  • I received a warning from Garmin and removed all mention of the recall discount option a long time ago. I haven't given this option in a long time. I'm sorry it offended you.

  • I've cleaned up this thread a little and will be closing it. I had not intended to interject, but I want to make a couple of points:

    1. As mentioned, we had contacted him when our guidelines were updated with a warning about adherence to our guidelines, and he has been fully cooperative.
    2. After a brief period to allow developers time to become aware of the changes, we adopted a zero tolerance approach to any guideline violations we identify. My team conducts regular checks for rating or review manipulation and takes appropriate action.

I understand the frustration expressed by many of you about this, and I want you all to know we are actively working to address these issues and improve our store to provide the best experience possible for both Connect IQ app developers and Garmin customers.
