Monkey Motion tool (Connect IQ SDK 3.1.8) always throw error

I am unable to use Monkey Motion tool that comes with Connect IQ SDK 3.1.8;

It always throws error when I pressed Generate button, had tried this with many GIF files input.

I also tried the GIF files from Garmin examples - giphy confused.gif, swirl.gif, and clock.gif as input - the results were the same, it throws unknown error.

For information, my system is the following

- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

- AMD Ryzen 3700X

I assumed, that Monkey Motion tool have bugs that prevent it to run correctly on AMD processor. Please help if there is any workaround for this.

I ran into a similar issue a few days ago. Apparently this error can come up if the app that does the video transcoding can't be started.

Out of curiosity, is there anything unusual about the path to the SDK? Maybe spaces or other 'unusual' characters in the folder names? Maybe try putting the SDK into a different folder?

It seems unlikely that it is an AMD vs Intel issue, but it is possible. This one will be difficult to reproduce if it is... I don't think any of the machines that we're using are AMD hardware, and definitely not as new as what you're using.

To answer your inquiry: my path to IQ SDK is standard character path (without special characters)

C:\Users\My NAME\eclipse

The folder to the SDK was generated automatically, when installing the SDK from the Garmin developer

I assumed this was AMD vs Intel issue, because when I tried converting gif files with my older laptop that has Intel Core i7, it worked correctly. Unfortunately, I did not have access to that laptop anymore.

In your first screen shoot you have "ant+" as part of the path. What if you remove the "+" from the path?

Hi Jim,

As per your suggestion, I put the gif files inside simple short folder name (for both input and output path)

E:\A\swirl.gif

No luck, same error - unknown error.

I strongly believe this is buig related to AMD Ryzen processor. As I had tried 2 different version of SDKs, all having same error (maybe in those 2 SDK versions, each Monkey Motion tool perhaps identical app without any revision)

Same version of Java/JRE as you were using before? Do other gif files work?

Garmin has a sample that uses monkey motion. Does that work?
