Are settings files for Apps just ignored?

Hi,

I’ve just converted a DataField to an App by popular request, and it works nicely, but...

¡¿Where are my settings?!

They compile properly, but just don’t show in ConnectIQ the way they do for DataFields

Do I really have to hand build all settings for Apps as internal menus?

And if so, for the love of humanity, WHY?

Is there really no way to expose settings to users outside of the App when the mechanism must surely be identical to that for DataFields and Widgets and Watchfaces (all of which _DO_ support settings).

ETA:

I have just checked in the _other_ Garmin ConnectIQ app...

So Connect app has no settings, ConnectIQ App does have settings.

SURELY, this is an error and needs a ticket raised somewhere?

How does somebody who doesn’t use the ConnectIQ app (I only occasionally use the app as the website is better...) get to adjust their App settings?

Where is the best place to go to get this addressed?

How are you testing? You won't see app settings with sideloads. See the new developer FAQ in the wiki.

I use app settings in device apps, widgets, watch faces, DFs all the time

Ok, so I installed another App to compare... Settings are available in that App

Is it just that settings are unavailable until after approval? (Mine is pending.)

Can you see the apps settings in the "App Settings Editor" in Eclipse?

Yes I can. And, as I say, they also work in ConnectIQ app.

The App was uploaded for approval, then downloaded and installed so apart from being hidden to other users, it’s the same route as if installed from a full release.

Yes.

They show and work everywhere _except_ Garmin Connect app. And they are copied (literally) from a DF that has been live and quite heavily used for weeks.

Eclipse: Works.

Garmin ConnectIQ: Works.

Garmin Connect: No settings available to test...

I believe jim_m_58 has hit the nail on the head here. In order for settings to work, you need to download the app from the store, you can't side-load it.

He clearly has _not_ hit the nail _at_all_.

As I have already stated a number of times; this app WAS downloaded from the store.

It is not even a beta.

The only difference is that it is “Pending”,

However, my understanding is (and this is how it works with DF, Watchfaces, Widgets) once downloaded through the store - whether Beta, Pending or Live - it should work fully everywhere for the developer who uploaded it.

Clearly there is a bug with Connect app on IOS. I will find somewhere to raise a ticket later.

The way settings work, is when you build a .iq, there's a json file included for each build. When you attempt to do settings, that is used by GE/GCM/Connect IQ to do the settings.

If there's an issue contacting the store, you won't see settings, but you probably won't see the image for the app either. Do you see the image for the app when you don't see setting?
