Method to share settings/properties between apps

We have a case where we would very much like to share information between two Connect IQ apps. It that something you have considered?

In this specific case, we would like to have an application to configure the advanced settings of a data field. This way we can provide a more integrated feel of the complete application, as it will otherwise require the user to configure the data fields via a web/mobile application... Which will both be more expensive for us to develop and maintain, and it will be a bit counter-intuitive for this application.

We have a user preferences interface that is currently in the works that should meet this need. This will allow any app type to define settings that can be modified using Garmin Connect Mobile.

Will this interface also include zone info?

I don't know what our schedule will be, but preferences are an important piece, especially for data fields that can't implement their own menus like widgets and apps. We want to make this available as soon as possible.

I'm not sure how zone info relates to the settings interface. We are working on exposing all the profile information that is used on the device through ConnectIQ APIs.

Ah, well it is kind of, but it is native configuration data. We will hopefully be able to expose it through an API. The user preferences interface we are working on will be for allowing the user to configure settings that are specific to a particular app.

With 4.2.x, there are complications, where you can have something like a widget that publishes complications, that are then displayed in a watch face.

but AFAIK the complications will not allow to share data between two apps or an app and a widget. Its a one way exchange from an app to a watchface.

True, complications will only work in a limited number of cases, but Brandon's post says direct sharing won't happen.

Not ideal, fast, or battery efficient, but perhaps there’s a simple way to use background services to sync settings over the network? Have a simple put/get paradigm using the unique device identifier?
