Why can't I download watch faces for my new Fenix 5X? It keeps saying I need to update my software. When I check, I have the most up to date software and maps.

  • Which program/app are you using to download the watchfaces? (Garmin Express / Garmin Connect Mobile / Garmin Connect IQ Store app)

And which type of PC, phone or tablet are you using? (Android / iPhone etc)

I think there have been problems recently with certain combinations, so just getting more info! Hopefully whoever reads this next will then know the answer ...

Im using the connectIQ store via Google Chrome, on a MacBook Pro, with my Fenix 5X plugged into my Macbook. I have garmin express of course, but it only lets me download watch faces that do not ask for permission to access apps

I have also tried the app on my phone.  It is really irritating, as even the Garmin branded watch faces wont download.

  • On your watch check settings>about and see what firmware is actually running on your watch.  Newer firmware may be on your watch, but not yet installed  Under Settings>system>Software update you can see if there's new firmware pending installation..

Ok I got it to work. Thank you

  • Once you install new firmware, a sync must occur so the app store knows what FW is running on your watch.  That could be why it didn't work the first time.

Please may you help me and tell me how you got it to work. My watch won't download anything from connect IQ and it's literally making me mad!

The same thing was happening to me at first. I found out that the firmware needed to be updated. check the firmware on your watch and make sure it is up to date. It can be on your watch and not installed yet. Once you do that disconnect your watch from IQ and let it sync.  Then re-connect to IQ and it should work. If this doesn't work for you please message me back and I will walk you through it.
