getHeight

Playing with a mock up of a data field. This demonstrates a challenge. I use dc.getHeight() to determine relative text placement. At least for the Edge 1030 in the simulator, the bottom data field thinks it is taller than the actual screen real estate. I write a version # at the bottom but it is obscured by a black nav bar. Is there a better function that returns the actual visible height of a data field?

Maybe there isn't a way to do this? I've searched the forum for height but no joy.

I.e. the nav/menu bar at the bottom shouldn't be there in the simulator? (I've never tried programming for an Edge …)

Yep totally related and looks like a sim bug. Thx! Jim - I thought I recalled a prior response from you about another function to get the usable data field dimensions other than dc.getWidth() and height? Can’t find it so maybe not?

But that's the physical screen size instead of the dc size

What's this like on the real device vs the sim?

Yes, this is because of the soft button bar at the bottom of the screen. It is not supposed to be there, but shows up in the simulator (it does not appear on devices). I've already merged a patch to fix this, but it didn't make it in time for the 3.1.6 SDK.

Using the screen size won't help much since it is always the bottom fields that are cut off, and you don't really have a good way to know where your field is being displayed.
