App settings are not working. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

I am using a Fenix 5X.

When I change an app setting on Garmin Connect Mobile, it doesn’t have the expected effect on the app. I have not updated the app in the app store for quite a while, so this must be caused either by an update in Garnin Connect Mobile App or by a firmware update on the device.
