CIQ data field only in black

Unfortunately, there is no direct way to turn off the screen during an activity to save power,
how about a data field that is completely black and displays nothing?

  • That is too bad. I should've mentioned that there might've been some overhead due to the complexity of AppBuilder 5's code (even an empty formula is evaluated once per second.)

It would be fairly simple to write a datafield that does nothing but display pure white or black without any of the overhead of AppBuilder 5, but I don't know if it's the kind of thing that belongs in the store. It would probably consume less power than AppBuilder 5, but I can't say whether it would consume less power than a stock Garmin field.

  • Why not just dedicate a whole page to a built-in field that will change even less frequently than the time of day, like sunset or sunrise time? For 99% of activities (those lasting less than a day or maybe half a day), those numbers should not change. Even if they do change, it seems like they won't change more often than once a day.

Then you don't have to worry about any potential overhead from even the simplest Connect IQ datafield.

No prob, because I already suspected it.

that's exactly what I think and that's why I asked here in the forum

A pure white field might not be accepted but how about a free selectable text that does not change.
Let's call it "note data field" Wink

You only find out when you try it. Slight smile

I took the clock (without seconds), because it changes less frequently but I have not thought about the bether sunset time. Thank you, this idea is really very good.
