Training Status separated when using two devices

I have a FR645 and an EDGE530, one for running (with chest strap) and one for cycling (chest strap and power meter).

Physio TrueUp is enabled on both devices, so I was expecting to see my cumulative training status, taking into consideration both runing and cycling.

But no, I have two different training status, one for each device:

FR645

EDGE530

My FR645 is telling me that I'm in a recovery period, but of corse it's not and I'm digging hard into cycling.

The only updated data is the recovery advisor, which on my everyday FR645 shows me correctly 42 hours, which is the recovery advice calculated by my EDGE 530, even if FR645 is still saying that I'm basically doing nothing (recovery...).

This is bad, because the whole point of choosing two devices of the same brand is to share information between the two, to be able to plan my next training session.

In my opinion Training Status must be a cumulative data, not divided by device but by sport: for example if I'm able to see only my running training status on Garmin Connect, I can adjust my schedule to compesate for imbalance between two my sports, but my overall training status is always the same, I'm not "recovery" if I'm overtraining with cycling!

  • Yes they do show up on other device, an activity recorded with Edge 830 shows fine on my Fenix 6. Maybe it is not like that with Fenix 5? Here is activity recorded last Sunday with Edge 830 showing on my Fenix 6:

  • I agree that this won't be changing anytime soon. It's not a "bug" or something that needs to be "fixed", there's a big licensing/pricing agreement hurdle they have to get over before they can even think of developing the software to do it

I do not agree, if I have two devices with Phisio TrueUp and I record an activity with an Edge and I found an activity in the fenix it have to calculate all metrics because have all license it need to do it. Full stop.

I found a solution to this in another thread. I managed to get it to work. the trick is you have to Sync both devices before an activity
Note for others, your training status will still be different. This only fixes the training load. So still only a halfway fix

Could you explain me if this workaround solve something? I need to have in fenix 6 load form edge series and VO2Max from Edge series. It is not important to have same satas in botbh devices because Edge have only the cycling datas and this is impossible but I would like to have in Fenix the correct and complete datas like if I record bike activity dicrectly into the Fenix. Is this possible now doing syncg befeor start cycling?

  • I have exactly same sh... issue with my Edge 530 and Forerunner 645.
Something was changed on garmin side in Training Load/Staus calculation methods, because I didn’t have that issue a few months ago.

I think answer is here: support.garmin.com/.../

    • This is awful, I have the same problem running a 645m and 830. Will get back date older models to suit their new way or make us re purchase watches. Seems like and endless and pointless cycle
  • I had same issue - 645M & Edge 530 stopped synching late November after firmware 7.0 update. Rolled back 645 to firmware 6.7 and works as it did previously. Garmin said they fixed the glitch with FW7.0 and that 645/edge 530 was working incorrectly prior to firmware 7. Ie - 645 was never supposed to use training load from Edge 530- opposite of TrueUp marketing - which was my whole reason for buying a 645. Maddening...

  • I tried this with both my Fenix 5X Plus and Edge 530. Still same issue with separate data.

  • Same issue here between FR935 & Edge 530... disheartening to see the OP was posted over 2 years ago and this is still an issue......

  • Anything changed?

I've got my new Garmin 1030+ and I can see different numbers in "training load" section coming from both devices (1030 and phenix s5+). I have "Physio TrueUp" turned on in both devices.

Is there solution for it or Garmin has not fixed it yet?

  • The Edge 1030 Plus and the fēnix 5S+ use two different methods for calculating the load. The Edge 1030 Plus is using the current method, while the fēnix 5S+ is using the previous method.

I have a fēnix 5+, fēnix 6X, and Edge 1030 Plus. All have Physio TrueUp enabled. The fēnix 6X and Edge 1030 Plus use the current method and show the same '7-Day Load', but the fēnix 5+ uses the old method and shows a lower '7-Day Load'.

Unless Garmin update the load calculation method in the fēnix 5S+ firmware, it will always show a different value than the Edge 1030 Plus.

  • The fēnix 6X and Edge 1030 Plus use the current method and show the same '7-Day Load'

What's about heat acclimation? I have an 830 and a Fenix 6 Pro, all Training Status and load data are ok (if I only run bike, if not different but this is normal).

But the heat acclimation data are not uploaded from 830 on Garmin Connect and so are not updated to Fenix 6.

I had 830 at 24% and Fenix 6 at 1% and after some days heat acclimation data desappeared at all from Fenix 6 and Garmin Connect.

    Very strange...
