Assigning default gear for individual activities

I just bought a pair of trail running shoes in addition to my road running shoes. I'd like to set up Garmin Connect such that when I choose 'run' on my Fenix 3, my road running shoes are linked and when I choose 'trail run' it knows that I'll be using the trail running shoes.

Currently I can only select 'other' when I choose an activity assigned to my trail running shoes, 'trail running' is not listed as an option under gear settings.

I have the same problem with my road and mountain bike.

I never got any reply of Garmin. I think they simply messed up the code and do not know how to implement this feature. I totally agree, that this is a simple and very useful feature. I keep my statement. As much as the hardware developed by Garmin is leading edge, the software is not.

Would love to see this too. Each activity needs to have its own default. Mtn bike, Road Biking, Treadmill, etc. And while you are at it add the possibility to add an image of your gear. I think that would be a cool added feature. But start with adding defaults to each activity.

I'm surprised this request has been ignored for so long. GARMIN!!! Are you listening. This is a HUGE deal for cyclists who switch bikes depending on activity type. My 530 distinguishes between ride types because they are inherently different. It only makes sense to allow us to associate different bikes to the different cycling types as well.

It's SUPER irritating to constantly have to change gear. I do it in Garmin, then go out to Strava and do it there as well. Boooo

Come on Garmin, throw us a bone eh?

i have small but quite annoying problem, i use normal gravel bike for some of my rides and then i have Ebike for Emtb rides...

issue is that i use Garmin no track my bike chain kilometers and bike usage, i haven't been able to make gear automatically to add correctly since in Gear we only have "bike" it does not differentiate between bike and Ebike, has some one found a way to achieve this or does anyone know is Garmin adding gear category for Ebikes?

Currently the only way to do this is to manually add gear to each activity.
