My friends are very impressed with my cross country skiing abilities. Especially as we have no snow and I have no skis 
A solution. In Garmin connect go to devices - select your device with the power data for XC skiing - user profile - Heart rate and power zones- power - XC Ski - set ftp to 1w. Exit the menu. Now check your VO2 max screen it worked for me Hope it does for you all too.
