I noticed that I have an ftp for cross-country skiing at Garmin Connect. However, I have never recorded any cross-country skiing activity. How can i delete this ftp?

  • MY Cross Country  FTP dont show , When i click show  CyclingFTP  - I need to save as Winter Sport? Or another way instead of Cross Country ?

  • 1. Estonia. but this is completely irrelevant.

    2. hereby i give it for you, yes. but this is completely irrelevant.

    3. i'm not bothering with it, because it's completely irrelevant.

    4. iPhone 15 Pro, Garmin Connect app version is 4.77.1.2. but this is completely irrelevant.

do you know what IS relevant?
    let me help you:
Garmin Connect app -> Device icon on the top right corner (Forerunner 965 in my case) -> Forerunner 965 -> User Profile -> Heart Rate & Power Zones -> Power -> XC Ski -> Reset Zones

the problem started, when i fired this action. since then, i see these incorrect data at the FTP page. whatever has been set there, on the XC Ski Reset Zones page, in the second row (named "FTP", and it's value is 120 W in my case), will be the base of the FTP value for XC Skiing. and will be copied from day to day, starting from the day it has been set. until new data arrives, and since then, that new data will be copied from day to day, until new data arrives, and so on and so on.

(BTW, question: why can't i manage the sports showing at the "... -> User Profile -> Heart Rate & Power Zones -> Power" screen, like i can manage sports at
"... -> User Profile -> Heart Rate & Power Zones -> Heart Rate -> Sport Heart Rate -> [Sport] -> Remove [Sport] HR" or
"... -> User Profile -> Heart Rate & Power Zones -> Heart Rate -> Sport Heart Rate -> Add Sport"
instead, these sports at "Power" are hard-wired (Cycling / Running / XC Ski).
BTW 2: why can't i delete these (false) data like i can delete a Weight measurement on any given day?
BTW 3: why is this such a huge issue that it couldn't be solved for more than 2 (TWO!) YEARS?)

  • I wonder what 'active investigation' means.

The issue of ghost Cross Country Skiing FTP appeared for me when I added my new Forerunner 265 which, Dear Garmin, you decided should have Cycling, Running and XC Skiing power zones as non-editable defaults. My previous watch (Instinct 2) only had Cycling in this section:

Connect App>Devices>Forerunner 265>User Profile>Heart Rate & Power Zones>Power:   Running, Cycling and XC Skiing

I don't ski! Why do you think it is appropriate for this to be in my User Profile?

Why can't I DELETE XC Skiing from this section of MY User Profile?

I imagine if you introduce an update to allow users some control in this section, this huge chain of annoyed users, open for years now will immediately be happy.

  • "Why can't I DELETE XC Skiing from this section of MY User Profile?"

That XC ftp stuff is probably bc they are selling used watches as new and there is no way to delete that data without prev owner noticed.

  • Open mouth so if I understand correctly... Forerunner 265 does NOT come with Running, Cycling & XC Skiing power zones as standard? My new watch was not new?!?!

  • the probles is not with power zones for running and cycling, the problem is you get ftp for xc skiing even if you've never skied before. New or not, there must be a reason why it takes over to years (meantime garmin realeased new itteration of those watches) and the "bug" is still there. PRobably they know they can't solve the issiue so they decided to let it be that way, people will get used to it and forget.

  • I also have this phantom cross country skiing FTP.  Mine is date April 11, 2022.  I've never done a cross country skiing activity.  I would just like to get rid of it.

I am also logging a  complaint with the FDA to bring to their attention Garmin devices are reporting phantom data and they should investigate and perhaps rethink their various health certifications.

  • Report the phantom data to the FDA to ensure they trigger and investigation.  Garmin has various health certifications for their devices and if enough people do what I have done, complain to the FDA, the FDA will be forced to review the issue and likely start pulling certifications when they find the devices are reporting false data.  When Garmin loses even one certification, you can be sure they will give us the tools to delete this bogus info and work round the clock to ensure it doesn't return.  This is clearly a bug that has the potential to call into question other statistical representations.
