text message notifications not coming through after iOS 13 update

Just updated my software to iOS 13.0 and now my FR635 will not alert me of text notifications. When I receive a text my FR635 does not buzz or even show that I have a notification. When I receive notifications from other apps (twitter, groupme, etc) my FR635 will not buzz but with show them on my notifications widget. The only thing my FR635 will do still is buzz for incoming calls. 

I saw other people with similar problems and tried going to settings -> notifications -> connect -> show previews -> always, but this did nothing for me. I still do not get notifications for texts at all or any vibrations for all other notifications (besides phone calls). I have phone notification alerts set to vibration for both during an activity and not during an activity through the Garmin app.

    This fixed it! Although I dislike having previews on my phone, so hopefully Apple/Garmin changes this. It also works when someone selects "Only when Unlocked". Thanks for the fix!

    I agree, & have the same problem.  I used to be able to get the preview on my Fenix5s without it showing on my iphone.  Does anyone know if it's possible to get back to this?

    Just another data point in this discussion.  I had similar issues with the 735xt notifications and an iPhone SE.  Notifications were almost 100% reliable prior to iOS 13 update, and then notifications stopped working intermittently for the past few months.  I found that sometimes restarting the iPhone would fix it for a while, but I could not find any way to make them work permanently or reliably.  I recently updated to the Garmin Venu and notifications seem to be reliable again; nothing else has changed on my phone.  I wonder if the older device bluetooth cannot support the latest iOS (not that the 735 is that old.)  I do love the Venu.  Fingers crossed that the next iOS update doesn't break everything again for this device too.

    After searching many chat rooms and Garmin website,  I got my Phenox 3 HR to do ALL notifications.  It's a combination of everyitng that has been said thus far. If one step is missed.  It will not work. 

    my Phone - iphone 11 Software 13.4.1 

    Reboot Garmin watch to factory settings 

    Reboot phone and connect garmin watch through Gramin Connect app - how to on Garmin web site - must follow all steps 

    Iphone - 

    Turning on system notifications:

    Settings - blue tooth - Fenix 3 HR - Share system noticiation

    Settings - notifications - Show previews - Always 

    Setting - Messages - Allow notifications - show preview always - Badges  on - *must pick an alert style - I picked "Notification center" (this is key if you have never selected before which I had not and did all the steps above) 

    Once I did all the above, I recieved all notifications iinfludding text messages.  Since I picked a banner style of "notification center" the preview of texts do not show on my phone but they do show on my watch.
