Forerunner 310xt won't sync in Garmin Express

Hi
I have been trying to sync my 310xt but nothing happens. I've clicked on 'scan for devices' icon and also tried to search for a new device but not getting anywhere.
I get a message saying that an Ant+ stick is connected to my computer, so I assume that's ok and I've also checked that data transfer is enabled and pairing is on, on my 310xt.
Not very impressed with Garmin Express, never had any trouble with AntAgent.
  • Well after having a period where Garmin express actually worked as it should the last week has been hell. For a start syncing stopped working so I then took advice off here and deleted the device (310xt) and reinstalled it to transfer my data. A real pain in the arse but at least it worked. Now this has stopped working and just fails with errors. I am now going to reinstall ant agent, get rid of this trash, I don't need segments, I don't need fancy graphic. What I want Garmin, is to spend less time trying to upload my training than doing the actual training. If this doesn't work I'm going back old school and this expensive trinket will be confined to the back of a draw while I save up for a Polar!

    Absolute rubbish!

Also want to join this list of sufferers. Worked perfectly for months with Garmin Express, then suddenly just stopped syncing. Deleted and readded my 310XT but really disappointed with this

Same problem (with a 310XT). Every time I want to transfer a new activity I have to delete my device in G Ex before I reinstall/re-pair it again. When will you (Garmin) make it work properly? Frustrating.

Well, I've emailed Garmin customer support referring to this thread. Interested to see if I get a reply. If not, then I know I will be buying elsewhere when it's time to replace my Forerunner and Zumo.

No response. So I gave in and did a hard reset of the Forerunner and that seems to have solved the issue now. Strange how it just stoped working.
  • If you were previously uploading data with the ANT Agent and had started having trouble after installing Garmin Express, delete the device from Express then clean up the left over ANT Agent data. Pair the device with Express again and your uploads should resume.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devic es\
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    2. Delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    3. Restart the computer

    4. Pair the device and creating a couple of short 1 min test activities.

If you continue to have troubles I suggest you contact us by phone: http://www.garmin.com/us/support/

  • I was having the same problems as everyone else with my forerunner 310. I uninstalled Garmin Express and deleted all files on my Mac several times. Deleted the watch from Garmin Express and then re-added. And switched the pairing on and off. Nothing worked. Eventually I phoned Garmin (it's freephone thankfully as I was on hold 30 minutes) who suggested I did a reset on the watch and that has worked. It means all my recent workouts have gone that I couldn't upload but fingers crossed it works from now on. To master reset:

    Power off the Forerunner.
Press and hold the Mode button.
    Turn on the device.
Release on Mode button when ‘Do you really want to erase all user data?’ appears.
    Select Yes.

And then just follow the instructions on the watch.
  • Two months later and this problem is still not fixed! Garmin, where are you? I have to delete my device from Express every single time I want to upload. I've done all the de-installs of ANT+, all Garmin products, re-installed Express, and still the damn watch won't synch. Ant Agent worked great, this really sucks.

Garmin, why won;t you fix this??

Assuming you have completed the steps in post #28 and Garmin Express is up to date but continue to have this problem on a Forerunner 310XT, then the issue probably lies with the software version on the watch itself. Please check the software version on the watch. Mode-->Settings-->About Forerunner. The Software Version should be 4.50.

Complete a Master Reset on the 310XT. See FAQ: How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

Remove/Add the device to Garmin Express.

Once this is complete you should not have to remove/add the device each time you want to sync. Please be sure you have already compelted the steps in post #28 or the problem will persists.

  • So, if I do a Master Reset, I'll lose all my workouts since my last successful sync, right? (And that would be since the last time I uninstalled/reinstalled the software, since that's the only way to get it to sync.)

Curt, how confident is Garmin that this is "The Fix" and it will work from then on? I don't want to be jumping through hoops, spending a lot of time on my computer or on the phone, unless this fixes the bugs once and for all. Thanks.

There's no wired connection available for the 310XT? I'm sure missing the flaky cradle from the 305!
