Forerunner 310xt won't sync in Garmin Express

I have been trying to sync my 310xt but nothing happens. I've clicked on 'scan for devices' icon and also tried to search for a new device but not getting anywhere.
I get a message saying that an Ant+ stick is connected to my computer, so I assume that's ok and I've also checked that data transfer is enabled and pairing is on, on my 310xt.
Not very impressed with Garmin Express, never had any trouble with AntAgent.
  • Having the same problem with my 310xt. Yesterday it even lost my run data somewhere in mystery land. No longer on the watch, and never hit the cloud. So irritating. I never had this issue with ant agent alone. I finally got it to sync this morning's run by uninstalling everything and reinstalling and then deleting my 310xt from garmin express and adding it again. At least it put my run info on connect. It still isn't fully syncing and updating the watch, however. I am so irate:(
  • You will need to do this after an Express software update, that may be the issue you're having. I don't know whether that behaviour that will change in the future but at the moment I make a habit of deleting/reassociating devices everytime Express is updated.


    SUSSAMB, from my point of view it has nothing to do with the Express software update itself. It has everything to do with the fact that the Express software does not automatically connect to the device when you PC was re-booted since the last time your device was sync'd with Garmin Express. I shut down my PC every night when I am done using it. After doing that, Garmin Express is currently not smart enough to connect to my 310XT the next day following an activity unless I delete the device from Garmin Express first. Are you able to recreate this situation on your end? Perhaps if you did, a solution for this issue could be implemented.

    I can't delete the device. There is no option to do that. Express says there is an update but I can't connect with the 910XT to effect the update. There is no "delete device" option on my 910XT, which shows up in Connect but will not talk to it. Now what?
  • BTW the Classic view can see my 910XT but not the "new workouts" ...
  • I own a 310XT and I can confirm the following: every time I want to upload my training data I need to delete my device from Garmin Express and then re-add it. It will then search and found my watch and proceed to upload the data. If I don't delete the device there's no way the software and the watch will pair up and communicate. The sync icon is greyed out and unusable, no updates are found and Garmin Express just sits there, a beautiful piece of useless software.
    Extremely disappointed with Garmin.

    Only if someone with Garmin had a clue. Not very likely based on the lack of support demonstrated thus far by Garmin. What a joke!

    Today I got the notice that it was time to switch to the "modern" Garmin Connect. So I thought, well this has been in the works for ages, I guess it's time. It looked cool - a lot like my FitBit page, but my device wasn't showing up. It told me I needed to download Garmin Express to replace ANT. So I did. It uninstalled ANT, then my Forerunner 310XT showed up on my Connect page. Since reading the Forums, and the help pages I have tried:-unplugging and replugging in the ANT stick
    -Turning off and on the watch
    -deleting the device from the Express and re-syncing it - but it still won't sync
    -I've unplugged and shut off my FitBit, my phone etc so that nothing was interfering
    -I have tried making a few 10s workouts so that there was data to transfer and nothing. My watch said data is transferring but it's not showing up ANYWHERE!!!


    Really disappointed that this new software is not working and now worried that any runs or workouts won't be logged.

    I love my Garmin and loved how great it was, I had even bought the heart rate monitor lately to up the experience. Peeved now.

    So because I can't just let sleeping dogs lie I kept playing with it, deleting and trying again. As it happens I had never deleted any activities from my watch...so I just deleted everything as my Connect online was up to date. I added a 10s workout and it synced right away when I added it that time. Crazy. So now all that remains is to do another real workout and see if it uploads as seamlessly as ANT always did.

    I don't think this is the "issue" as I have seen other posts that people delete after each activity and it still doesn't work...but it worked for me today!?
