Film Testing - Autumn 2025

The Morvan stages seem to be now tested, still awaiting the new feature. Apparently, it works!

I'm busy now making some films from the remaining Thailand footage. These will have to be tested asap if they show up, as tacx wants these out now in November, just when everyone heads inside to see what new content we have.

In the meantime, I'm publishing some of the hopefully amazing rides filmed this summer, which will not be released this winter, so no rush.  At least there will be something new while you wait.

  • I also tested Running Finestre 03 again
    Test 1: streaming: Choppy corner
Test 2: downloaded 1080p: same issue

I've even made a video with my phone. But you can't see it clearly on this recorded video. Probably because I've filmed at 60fps and filming a video is gonna suck anyway.
The corners I've used to test in this specific video are at:
    - 85m. Not noticeable because pretty much a smooth corner
    - 620m. Pretty good corner to test
    - 1.13km. Perfect corner to test with! This is pretty much always awful to watch for me.

I still consider the possibility of this to be a local issue for me. I might check my video drivers.

General question: How are video's presented to the user? Nothing is being "rendered" on the client, right? It's just video playback? because then it's weird that I experience the most choppy video issues in the corners?

  • 'm going to split these in 3 categories.
MAJOR VIDEO ISSUES, Freezes of video

Good catch, this is actually a different issue to Finestre 3 where the data is very smooth from Bertha, this was the data, I had forgotten to do a final check to remove all the craziness that you get when recording speed from only GPS, its this recording that will affect the playback (how far you travel between each line of data). v3 should have this fixed, will go through the other rides this afternoon.

  • I'm using the old version of the app - 4.65.1.55414. And I can't update it. Because the link to the ms-windows-store doesn't work.

The Microsoft Store has the standard version app - 4.74.2.0.

My email starts from laguna etc

Nothing is being rendered on your side (Hence the downloads), its effectively a video player where the frame rate is controlled by your input. I dont have a working copy of TDA for windows (which is massively better visually for both video & UI), I only have a Beta IOS on this mac, this is running everything smooth but its using the wrong colour space tag so the colours look washed out with less sharp details then it should do. If they ever fix this it would be the single best update they ever did lol

  • 24th Oct - v3 022_  Chaolao Beach

I rode the first 21km of this today. I'd planned more but it was, frankly, tedious. Might have been better if I wasn't trying to stick to a low HR before my run tomorrow.

Gradients (such as they were) all OK.

I wasn't aware of any frame-rate problems at all. I was streaming, not playing a downloaded movie.

    I'm on 4.74.2.0 Windows 11.

  • v3 Finestre 5 - Montgenevre
Really great video!! Profile also good for a nice training with the climb from both sides.
I did not notice any problems or things to improve.

    Unrelated to this video:
Before this ride I noticed the update bar saying there is an update available. I installed it, but the version number did not change? weird. It was 4.75.0.0 and it still is 4.75.0.0.

In my quest to find a solution to my choppy video playback experience, I found out that my windows10 to windows11 upgrade resulted in all drivers to be replaced with very old ones. Including the video driver. Windows Update did not supply any optional driver updates. So I went to manufacturer website and I downloaded video and chipset drivers there. Great thing was that installation also gave the option to reset everything to defaults, which I did.
At first I thought it had fixed my choppy playback experience, but in the corners while descending Montgenevre I sadly still noticed video stuttering :( Maybe it's just my OCD Slight smile

  • I'm a little sick. Maybe on Tuesday I'll go v2 041_SB-Pasak Sat (Thailand).

  • v2 041_SB-Pasak Sat (Thailand)

    TDM - 100% / RFI - 100%. BT.  Streaming. Morning's weight is 65.4 kg. Average power - 1,83 W/kg.

    Overall, the video is fine.
The video slowed down a few times.
18.9 km - the video slowed down on a turn.
    22.6 - 27.75 km - often.
The film ended 3 meters early.

    System: Windows 11 25H2 26200.6901. i7-12700. RAM - 32 Gb. RTX 4060 8 Gb. Tacx Trainig App - 4.65.1.55414

  • 28th Oct - v2 022_Chalao Beach

Completed this route (app upgraded to 4.75.0.0 as I was loading it)

No stuttering, even on corners, though the camera angle did take a little while to return to level after some corners.

The thing I did notice is that, having completed the route this time, the route map reset back to the start point. When I went back in to look at the activity on Tacx I was offered the opportunity to "Resume" and it would have restarted the whole route. I don't think I've seen this before. (Think of it like using Continuous Ride but the same route on repeat).

So its working like a lap ffeature but for rides that are not lap based? Would be good if they made this something I could set, although they do now have a backend tool to do this but somehow have sandboxed it in such a way that I can't use it. Its not the first time this has popped up, its probably a small bug but one that could very easily be a popular feature haha
