The battery drains rapidly since the update. From previous version to 7.8...the battery would last 6-7 days, now it is drained in less than 12 hours. Doesn't seem like a hardware problem, can I load the 7.70 software?

be nice if Garmin Support would at least acknowledge problem.
Please stop giving canned answers.
What I've tried:
1) Factory reset (10 times). No watchfaces or any other CIQ apps. Same problem.
2) Full discharge and full charge leaving the cable connected for…
Hi, I am not a twitter Guy, but this is the kind of issues that should hit twitter
Thank you! But won't it just auto update to 7.8?
The procedure is easy
On the page you will find an overview of the last few versions, with news that are listed compared to the previous version. you download the zip file. It stores both the beta version and the latest version of the official firmware in case you want to return to it.
After downloading the zip file, connect the watch or other device to your computer with a cable. Unzip the zip file and find the device in Windows Explorer. Double-click the device name to open the internal folder and go to the Garmin folder. Upload the GUPDATE.GCD file here. After disconnecting the device, an automatic update will be performed directly in the watch or navigation. To revert to the previous firmware (latest official, stable version), upload the GUPDATE-XXX.GCD file (where XXX specifies the firmware version) to the Garmin folder and rename it to GUPDATE.GCD.
no this is old 7.7, but if you connect to the garmin expres ...update will be in selection again...o)))
only connection i have is to the garmin connect app on my phone, not express on my PC. i'm assuming that will force an update? or? thank you for your help!
it is better only copy via windows explorer new file to your garmin, connect PC by charge USB cable
I contacted Garmin support for this issue, and while they didn't acknowledge that it IS an issue, all I needed to supply was my serial and the support agent set me up for an exchange replacement. I'd tried clearing out several \Garmin folders on the watch (an issue with a previous firmware update), downgraded to 7.70 (which I had zero issues with) and let it re-upgrade to 7.80, hard reset, etc., all to no avail.
To me that suggests that not only do they know it's an issue, but it's an issue with a specific block or blocks of serials (probably a particular hardware/firmware combo) that causes this drain issue. Being that this watch is 3 1/2 years old, well used, and well out of warranty, the fact that they're replacing it for free (albeit with a refurb, not surprising considering that they haven't made the VA3 in a couple of years) would also suggest to me that they know it's an issue.
My $.02 is that if you can, contact your country's Garmin support and arrange for a replacement.
German Garmin Support just told me that they are working on this issue with effort. They are aware of this problem.
So we can expect an update soon (hopefully)
Thanks a lot for the information!. do you have an email from them telling this?
Thanks for the update. I contacted Garmin Spain and they are asking me 99€ plus shipping cost, everything in advance. Do you have an email or document from Garmin support so I can convince Grarmin Spain to do the same?
