Right Sensor Missing

Hello!

Does anyone know what can generate this message "right sensor missing"?

Occurred with my Vector3 during use. Just the 8th training with my Vector3.

My workout ran out of energy information on my right leg for several minutes (45').

This thread may need to be split up as it has conflated a number of different issues.

Power and cadence drop out whilst riding doors
This is not related to the right pedal being missing and is most likely being caused by radio interference from other radio traffic operating on the 2.4 GHz channel.
If you are running a 2.4 GHz Wi-FI network then check the channel it is using. Avoid using channel 11 as this is the closest to that used by ANT. Try moving to channel 1 or 6.

If you post the FIT activity file I can look at the radio reception rate.

Right Pedal missing message whilst riding
This is due to the battery disconnecting or shorting in the right pedal. Check that the batteries are installed correctly and that the battery door is tightened down snug. Do not over tighten it as this will strip the thread. If the door will not tighten down and starts to spin then this is due to the thread being stripped. If the thread is stripped then the pedal body will need replacing. Please contact Garmin Customer support.

Inside the battery door there is clear tape that covers the lower section of the vertical metal strips. If this tape is missing then the door needs to be replaced. The tape is very hard to see.

Right Pedal missing message when stationary
This is irritating, but not anything to worry about as the communication between the pedals will re-establish as soon as you start pedaling. We are looking in to this.

Cycling Dynamics drops out from the right side
This is not a right pedal missing issue, but rather a software configuration issue. Something has caused the right side to switch off the Cycling Dynamics feature. We are investigation this, but letting the pedals go to sleep and then waking them up again will fix the issue.
  • Vector-Info, how about the alternating red and green lights on both pedals 54 miles into a 70 mile ride never to have the pedals reconnect during this ride?

Vector-Info I have this problem -> Right Pedal missing message whilst riding. I tried the tape solution. Unsuccessfully. I await solution.

But I've been through this -> Cycling Dynamics drops out from the right side. I disconnected and reconnected Cycling Dynamics. Now it seems Ok.

I confirm this using Edge 1000 with the latest firmware here.

bloom34 The red/green flashing indicates that a file transfer is taking place between the pedals. This is typically associated with a software update. If you got to the sensor about page for Vector what version does it show? Does it report a software mismatch? On the 820 you are using what files are in the Garmin\RemoteSW folder?

vhvalves are you in contact with Garmin Support on this? If you switch battery doors between the pedals do you still get the right side dropping out or does all data drop out due to a communication break with left pedal (this is master and talks to the head unit)

Hi Vector-Info, I've tried the changes without success. I continue with the right sensor Missing message.

    Shawn-Garmin it's helping me.

Can you have a look at my .FIT file ?
    thanks.

PS: I was using a Wahoo Kickr .... But the source of power/cadence is the V3 ...

I',m having the EXACT same problem.... Yesterday indoor training was a disaster.... During one 1hour, many episodes of zero cadence and power...

I noticed this happening when i was Zwifting last night but it seems at least for me I have Zwift using the V3's power and also in my Edge 1000 and the drop outs only happen in the Zwift fit file. The Edge 1000 reading is fine with no dropouts. I can only concur there are some interference to my ant+ while in Zwift. Nothing major though, probably 3-4 times 1 second drops then reconnects right away. This is while i was Zwifting for 1.5hrs.

In this case (if you're not already doing so) the following things may help to maximize the ANT performance of your computer:
    - Use a USB extension cable to position your computer's ANT dongle close to the power meter. I use a 3 meter extension to place the dongle close to the ANT+FEC trainer's resistance unit and this seems to also give good performance to Vector 3.
    - Set your WiFi to use 5 GHz if possible, or to use 2.4 GHz channels 1 or 6 (not 11).
    - If you're not using Bluetooth on your computer disable it while training.
