Scale not syncing

Why is it that every time Garmin Connect gets updated, there is a problem with the scale? As of today, I get >>>>>>>>>>x

Is there something the users can do to solve this, or is Garmin going to fix it anytime soon? It is quite frustrating to see a 'smart' scale operating in a way that is not smart :)

I am having the same issue, I have tried to delete the scale, set it back up, several times, and still get the >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>x, so frustrated. Almost to the point that I am looking at buying a new product!

OK...it appears to be online again.

During this whole process, it appears that my scale was somehow removed from my list of devices. Both on GarminConnect website and my GarminConnect app. Not sure how that happened, but...that was my starting point.

Here's the sequence I went through:

    1. Reset the scale to the point where it was searching a connection with: Bluetooth, Wireless or ANT.

    2. With my iPhone nearby, I connected through bluetooth.

    3. During the installation process, it asked me to select a WiFi Router / password.

    4. The initially appeared to fail, but after turning the scales on again, a connection was established.

I really, really like the Garmin products (watches/scale) so I'm hoping this is a one-off event related to temporary disruption of servers, etc.

Next time, I'll be more patient and when I get the X just tell myself in the fullness of time, the problem will resolve itself.

I have done this several times, it has not worked for me

  • Do u have it working now I have the same problem

  • Problem still remains for me, getting the dreaded >>>>>>>>>X

  • Yes me to it must be a A network problem between Garmin they need to sort it out and fast before people move away from Garmin Products

  • It was a Gateway problem a while back, took them ages to sort it.  I never found a way to wireshark it either to get more information on where it was failing

  • seems it's the same network issues as before.

workaround I have found is to tap the scales to wake them and then put a small amount of pressure before doing your weigh in.

this just allows the scales to be on longer to connect.  (look for the wifi icon to stop flashing and go solid)

  • I have the same problem though it is intermittent. I have done some traces and it seems a problem with the Garmin Server 104.19.148.86. In the unsuccessful case the server cancels the connection. I have opened a ticket with Garmin to look into it. It is not the old issue with the NTP server which was fixed in SW 3.10. We used to have it on a mobile hotspot before 3.10 but even that is not working stable. Although I cannot trace the mobile hotspot but I pretty sure it is the same issue with the server which I see when using our router.
