Broken watch band mounts

Has anyone experienced this? My wife had the same problem with the Vivoactive 3 on two occasions and now with the 654M.

She works in a pharmacy so there is not much she can bang the watch on while at work and just takes long walks for exercise. I bought this for her July 15th and here we are, December, and I am dealing with another broken watch.

It is a good thing that Amazon is amazing since I was able to return it with no problems but good grief!

This just happened to me as I was putting on my shirt to go run!  I'm so disappointed.  My watch was a Valentine's Day gift almost two years ago.  Where do I get the serial # to access a claim?  I checked the watch settings.  The numbers under the CE altel on the right are so tiny.  I took a photo and zoomed in.  I've entered what I think are the numbers, but the Garmin website does not recognize them.

  • @3427917 If you can get on Garmin Connect on the website, got to your devices.  From the main screen, it's the watch icon just to the left of your picture (top right corner).  Click on the name of your device.  The next screen should show you your serial number.

Thank you!  I completed the form.  Garmin is going to send me a refurbished 645 for no charge.  In the meanwhile, I was in Dollar Tree and saw an Apple Watch replacement band.  I put my Garmin watch face in it.  It looks hideous, but will hold me over.

  • I had to send in my watch (minus the bands) when I got a replacement.  Once they get the broken one, then they ship the refurb.  If they aren't asking your for yours, wow!  :-)

I've just had this happen as well. Watch is around 1.5 years old. Do you have the contact email for garmin? I can't seem to find it on their site, just a phone number.  Thanks

What do you think the chances are that I will get this replaced under warranty ? Garmin are currently doing discount sales and I don't know when they will end. So I could buy a new one at a discounted price..

  • I got my 645 replaced by using their Support website (in the US).  Go to https://support.garmin.com/ enter the model or serial number, then under "Contact us for more help" there is Chat, Call, Email for options.  I can't remember if I used the Chat or Call feature for the 645.  I know I used Chat for my Varia radar.  But anyway, you explain the problem, they look up your serial number.  Then give you the option(s).  For both the 645 and the Varia, I first had to send it back (I was given a code to drop it off, postage pre-paid, at either FedEx or UPS), then after they receive it, they ship out the replacement.  Given that the shipping companies are still catching up with the Christmas rush, it could take a while.  To answer your follow up question, I believe my 645 was about 1.5 to 2 years old at the time I made my request.  I was given a new one to replace.

Just had the exact same problem with my 645 Music. Broke the band mount after 22 months of regular use. In Brazil the GArmin representative is charging me USD 350 to fix it. Unbelievable!

That's a shame.  Garmin replaced my watch free of charge.
