This issue is now resolved for me on my Fenix 3. Calendar appeared again on my watch after I scheduled a new training plan in Garmin Connect on the web. I then synced using the iphone app and the Calendar was back with the new training plan and previous workouts
Was struggling with this today also. I think a new software version was released which removed the old option to download the training calendar to your device, but did not then update any current (or in my case scheduled) training plans. I simply deleted the training plan I was trying to sync, then rescheduled the same plan again (same dates - no changes), and suddenly everything syncs correctly on all devices. Frustrating that there is no official word from Garmin on this - took me about 2 hours of messing around to figure it out...
