Latest software the option to disable auto power off is disabled
Just reset the device after a firmware update and the auto power off switch will work again.
That only works temporarily then it stops again. Also a reset loses ALL custom screens, and any Garmin Connect goals and accomplishments. Anyone with any other idea? This is a really irritating bug!
I recently had something somewhat similar happen, where I couldn't change settings have have the change "stick". It was affect much more than what you've outlined here. I called support, and the last thing we tried was a full reset to factory, along with removing the app from my phone, reinstalling and then repairing. That was the only thing that worked for me. I posted about it here:
Edge 130 seems to have gone haywire - Edge 130 - Cycling - Garmin Forums
As I said above, factory reset temporarily fixed the issue for a couple of rides, then the same problem started again. The reset required hours of setting up the unit all over again from scratch. I wish there was a way to save the previous setup when doing a reset. I lost all custom screens, all my Garmin Connect awards, goals and accomplishments and it was literally like becoming a new member of Garmin Connect and setting up the device from new, which is already too complex and takes too long to do it once, much less repeat every couple of weeks. As it is, to get the Edge 130 to work at all, I have to turn off most features. It is a very buggy unit.
