edge 1030 frozen during saving a ride.

The last couple of times I got a frozen screen during the saving of a ride (v3.9). That has already happened 3 times. You only get out with a reset. The saved file is corrupt! I have the 1030 of the first day that he is available. Version 3.8 was not that good either. In the Debugging directory and the debugging / saved you can find the err_log.txt. The question is whether this is a defect or a firmware bug?

    contact Garmin Support by phone and tell them about your problem

    when you do not mind you can zip the fit file and upload here in the forum so we can have a look at it

  • What's the resulting size of your fit file? I've had the same problem and mine was due to the fit file being too big because of a bug where garmin is writing too much to the file. I'm still trying to get a ticket open to get it resolved. But basically since 7.20, anytime I follow a course, my 1030 creates a fit file around 25mb in size. I've never tried a hard reset when it seems frozen. It actually isn't. If you let it sit for 20-30 minutes it actually finishes and saves the ride. So check if your fit file is big, if so it seems frozen cause fit files aren't supposed to be that big.

    Also contact Garmin Support and tell them about your mishap.

    Same problem today a 60 km ride, froze a little late in the save process, see pictures and ride files uploaded

    Fails when trying to upload.

    both your files upload without problem in Garmin Connect Web via computer

    are you uploading through your smartphone ?

    try via Garmin Express

    both files are normal size, 0.3MB, 0.4MB

    you can delete all files in the activities folder on your 1030 ( recommend to backup files first)

    thus removing possible corrupt fit files blocking sync
