The last couple of times I got a frozen screen during the saving of a ride (v3.9). That has already happened 3 times. You only get out with a reset. The saved file is corrupt! I have the 1030 of the first day that he is available. Version 3.8 was not that good either. In the Debugging directory and the debugging / saved you can find the err_log.txt. The question is whether this is a defect or a firmware bug?
I don't recommend you do it, 'cause I think you would lose all your personal data. However it should be possible. Otherwise we should wait a new firmware update, that should be available soon (I hope...) In my opinion, I find 3.9 more stable than previous versions, but Garmin has still a lot to do to make 1030 a real flagship product. Cheers, Fabrizio
I can confirm: the device crashes after saving or uploading an activity (not always but very often) - but in my case that only happens with BT enabled (phone connected). With phone disconnected all works well. Garmin developers are aware of this - let‘s wait for the next firmware.
I have downgrade to version 3.7. Until now it work okay. Yes all personal settings are away!. Now I am sure it is a firmware problem and not a hardware.
This is one of the error log file with version 3.9. With 3.7, downgrade I haven't had any frozen 1030 or corrupted tif file. With live tracking the automatic upload does not always work (3.7)
Had this problem on FW 3.8 as well, today again on FW 7.4. Training file corrupted, after hard reboot, Træning not added to training load and recovery counter. However the file seems to have the training status, as it show when opening the training overview...
