[21.19] BUG – touch is always enabled during activity

Hi, after update to 21.19 public release, during activity (in my case walking and running) touchscreen is always enabled and can be operated by touch. Things doesn’t change when checking settings of each of those activities and in main settings menu for display. Everything is set to “touch disabled” or “use only on map”, but touchscreen stays touch sensitive. Even disabling touchscreen via shortcut on my device doesn’t seem to make any effect.

Please do something with this ASAP.

Ah – and YES – I’ve restarted device after update and made a WiFi sync.

  • What do you mean with hotfix? Do you have an other firmware version number?

Om my watch I can keep checking for updates, and every time it finds an update and says it download it, but after that, nothing. No install. That behavior happens quite often, and probably some sort of bugs. Not surprisingly.

    and on topic;

I just checked on my watch, with touch enabled for maps only, and at the start of the activity in non map data screens, touch was disabled. Don’t know how it is after some time, didn’t check that.
touch on map screen is still hit or miss.

  • I mean hotfix - I received a small update today which cured all problems with unwanted touch during activities.

    As said before:

Walking, running, strength, cycling - touch is disabled as it should and only works on walking activity, when I scroll to map view. When switching to different displays, with timer, distance etc touchscreen is disabled - as desired.

I'm still on v21.19, so I think about this more like a patch or hotfix, than more like an proper update.

  • I noticed the same problem on Forerunner 955, version 21.19.

Touch is enabled for activities even when the activity touch setting is Touch Off or Map Only. Even toggling touch on and off using the controls menu will not cause touch to be disabled during an activity (outside of activities, this works fine). (I guess this should be unsurprising, as the touch control in the controls menu controls the underlying setting.)

Also, there's still a bug where long-pressing on the topmost data field doesn't work. It's supposed to edit the data field, but instead it produces haptic feedback. When I long-press other data fields, they enter edit mode and there's no haptic feedback. I'm mentioning this here because I reported this bug several betas ago, but it hasn't been resolved yet.

  • Yep and even if you use a hotkey to turn off Touch it stays on, likely to be an annoying problem if you have it under sleeves :-(

  • What kind of hotfix was that and how did you receive it. I'm facing the same problem since weeks (it occurred first in the Beta). After restarting the watch several times the watch behaves for a while as it should but than the problem always comes back. It's really annoying...

  • Good day.
To resolve this error, change the touch screen setting for the Run, for example - Map only (back and forth), then exit the activity, go to watch settings - System - Language - change to English (different), wait 1 min, change back to your regional language.
Check the activity Running - the touch screen will only work correctly for the map.
This recipe - translating the clock to English and back cures a great many software bugs, a side note.
Good luck, good luck, all of you running.

  • Surprisingly, it worked for me. Thanks

  • Still no fix ?! This is beyond annoying when you're wearing long sleeves (yes it's cold these days) and the screens change at random !

  • Worked only a couple of days, but came again
