[21.19] BUG – touch is always enabled during activity

Hi, after update to 21.19 public release, during activity (in my case walking and running) touchscreen is always enabled and can be operated by touch. Things doesn’t change when checking settings of each of those activities and in main settings menu for display. Everything is set to “touch disabled” or “use only on map”, but touchscreen stays touch sensitive. Even disabling touchscreen via shortcut on my device doesn’t seem to make any effect.

Please do something with this ASAP.

Ah – and YES – I’ve restarted device after update and made a WiFi sync.

This is really annoying. Especially now that it's cold and you have long sleeves. Nothing like fixing a few things and breaking others :/

True, I was so happy after this update, but few days later it came back. And I don't have a clue what's causing it. After restarting the device it's working great, one, two, sometimes several activities later bug comes back... I really don't understand...

The touchscreen issue affects many of the latest touchscreen-capable Garmin watches. Both the FR 955 and the Fenix 8 have been the subject of related problem reports in the forum.

The Fenix 8 forum included an interesting observation: the problem seems to be most prevalent when using apps installed from the Connect IQ store. If you uninstall the apps, the touchscreen of the watch should work normally again during activities.

Unfortunately, this is not an option for me, as at least one app is essential for me, but maybe someone can try out whether uninstalling the apps provides a permanent solution to the problem.

It's surprising that Garmin still has no solution for such a central problem, which occurs on several models.

No, as usual Garmin are taking their sweet time to fix obvious and simple problems...it took them more than 3 months to fix music playback when the F7 and Epix 2 were released in early 2022 !

EDIT - ok, well it didn't take 3 months this time, phew ;-)

Just downloaded 21.20, rebooting, installed and...TOUCH during activities appears to be fixed (tested at my desk)

I just tested it on my watch and there is still an issue with touch settings not being respected in custom activities. Garmin-Sierra please take a look at forums.garmin.com/.../21-20-beta-touch-screen-settings-still-not-respected.

Hi, I'm still encountering this issue, but only in ConnectIQ apps.
