Auto zoom doesn’t work

I tried to follow a route on my bike this morning, but it is really hard. I have auto zoom enabled but the map isn’t zooming in before a junction. I tried manual zooming in, but if I leave zoom, the map returns to it’s zoomed out state.

This has been reported 10 months ago!!! (https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-965/331864/zoom-and-maps-is-a-horror/1620190#1620190)

Is garmin working on fixing bugs?

  • It started to show up for me since few days. No problem to create a video for me.

  • It's truly unbelievable that for a cmpany like Garmin they won't fix this or even believe their users. We're all experiencing the same problem since the moment I got watch. I solely use it for runnning. And then one of the most important functions doesn't work properly. The workaround is to switch autozoom off and set it to a zoom level you feel comfortable with. That's how I use it, but it's sad that a bug can survive for this long. This was my last Garmin watch.

  • come on Garmin, what's going on - we download a route, try to follow during an activity and the route stays impossibly small, you can't see it even with auto zoom on.  what's the point in bringing on a Fenix 8 soon when features on previous versions still don't work

  • I'm having the same issue. What's the point of the navigation view if it's so small you can't see the route?

  • I've tried the following:
    1) Settings - Map - Auto Zoom ON

Result: doesn't work with both Running and Trail running with system settings

    2) Trail Run - Trail Run settings - Map - Auto Zoom ON (after disabling system settings)

Result: doesn't work either (FTR: this is with: Settings - Map - Auto Zoom ON)

    3) Only works with Settings - System - Touch - During activity - Run: Map Only (similar for Trail running)

The map is unusable without zoom or auto zoom because it is way too small.
@ Garmin : would also settle for a setting "Default map zoom level"
