Zoom and maps is a horror

My previous watch, a forerunner 935 used breadcrumb style navigation which worked fine for the most time. Some junctions where difficult, but the auto zoom worked perfect and it was easy to see were you are on the line.

So far, navigation with maps is a bit of a disappointment. It’s hard to see on a small screen and when I turned on auto zoom things got worse.

When it is unclear which turn to take, I zoom in manually. But when I leave the manual zoom, the map is automatically zoomed out in such way the whole route is visible and maps/navigation is impossible to use. Near junctions autozoom does nothing.

Do I use it in a wrong way or is this an other glitch in garmins firmware?
