A FR955 with a very old FW 9.11 is supposedly "up to date"

Question

I've just purchased a new white FR955 Solar, opened the box myself. It has version 9.11 and Garmin says it's up to date. Any idea why this might be?

 As most of you already know, we are aware that a number of X55 devices are unable to update. If a Product Support agent has not already added you to the report, please tag me with permission to reach out via email so you can be added. We hope to have a fix soon, but do not have a timeline for a release yet. 
 Those of you on software 14.XX should still be able to enroll in Beta 16.12. For more information, see Public Beta Version 16.12 (Pre-Rollout) and Enrolling in and Learning About Garmin Beta Software Program

All, 
 Software version 15.19 has been made available, so anyone who syncs through Garmin Express should now be able to update their unit to that version. If you would like to enroll in our Beta Software program, you will need to update to 15.19 first, and then follow the steps in Enrolling in and Learning About Garmin Beta Software Program . 
 If you are still unable to update your watch, please start a new thread.
