Not updating most recent version automatically

Hi there

Just got a garnin forerunner 255. The software version is on 13.2 and stares it is fully updated- on both connect app and garmin express. I cannot download any apps as I believe version 15.19 is most uptodate version.

The sites state it should update automatically but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Can ye advise?

    I tried factory reset, didn't help (I just lose all the settings, still no update).

    To the people who keep saying "read the thread" I'm still baffled. There is no gupdate file that one user identified, and deleting those two folders the other user mentioned seems to do nothing. Am I just taking away that this is a known issue, or is there some fix I cant find here?

    Per Garmin, this is a new and known issue: they are working on a fix but there is no fix yet and no timeline. I believe the other steps mentioned here are just unofficial workarounds that aren't proven to help.

    I have read the forums (and wrote to Garmin - no reply yet), and it seems that the story might go like this:

    - Garmin released the 15.xx update, but they later found it too buggy, so they pulled it down, and are trying to work on a new update which fixes it (the 16.xx beta seems to be full of bugs as well, despite being called a release candidate - so we might be stuck in this state for a while)

    - So, the devices that missed this update are now stuck on the older versions (with less critical bugs, but also fewer features :/)

    - Unfortunately, the 15.xx also adds support for apps and watchfaces built with a new v6 SDK, so the watches with older firmware versions cannot install recently updated apps built against the v6 SDK. This is most unfortunate, but due to the state of their software development, all Garmin can now do is try to fix up the mess while trying not to break anything else.

    - What the app authors can do is to rebuild the apps against the previous v4 SDK (unless they use some of the newly added stuff) - I did this for my Weathergraph watchface after I found out I can't install it on my 955.

    - What we can do as users is just to wait until Garmin makes a working update ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. 955 is still a nice watch even with 13.xx firmware though (although I am lucky to not need the Spotify app).

    Thanks for this.  Frustrating that they can't allow an update to whatever last best version is. Can't update to the latest stryd workout app.

    Hi all, 

    I just received my first Garmin watch and it is a Forerunner 955. 
    However according to Garmin Express it has the Software Version 13.23 and according to Express it is up to date. I cannot download any IQ Apps as the Software Version is out of date.
    How can I solve this issue?

    Same problem here with brand new FR955 and quite annoying I must say. 
    Tried: soft reset, auto update on/off, cable connected to Garmin Express but no option to update.
    Garmin Express states i'm on V13.23
