Forerunner 945 resets when stop pushed in open water swim

Just started recently where during an open water swim and I push stop watch goes blank then the triangle and it takes time to load. Luckily I don't lose my swim but lose time stopping for a bit longer than I'd like since it's reloading.

  • Hi

it’s happening exactly the same to me during swimming and open water exercises. It keeps rebooting.

I noticed that this only started after last update because when I bought (in Feb) wasn’t like this.

Here’s my answers to your previous questions.

    1. Was a chest strap Heart Rate Monitor paired to the watch during these Open Water Swims? Yes, on both open and swimming pool.
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you? Yes
    3. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account? Yes
    4. In what country do you live? UAE, Dubai

looking forward hearing a solution for this.

    thank you

this is happening to me with the latest production 10.40FR and also the beta 11.03. On both swimming pool and open water activities.

  • Not completly sure, whether it fits, but during my last three triathlons with an open water swim I also had the issue, that the watch rebooted as soon as the lap-button was pressed to go over to transition. After the reboot, the activity was paused, after selecting resume, another lap-button hit allowed me to go over to the transition - of course, the reboot time was the diff between 'elapsed time' and 'activity time'. Moreoever, the training effect and some other "overall" metrics of the swim leg hadn't been saved.

  • Had several occurrences of this (March 30, May 27th). Have not seen it since but have an issue where the GPS just stops tracking mid swim (April 3, 29th, June 3,24,25, July 24,30) and it might be it's rebooting and I'm not seeing it because I'm swimming.
