  • Added support for Daily Suggested Workouts, which are recommended based on previous activities. You can disable this from activity settings. (Run/Bike > Menu > Training > Workouts > Today's Suggestion.)
  • Added support for the Track Run activity, which allows you to record outdoor track data, including lap splits and distance in meters, on a standard shape 400m track.
  • Added support for Improved Recovery Time, which takes your stress, sleep, relaxation, and physical activity into consideration.
  • Added support for Bouldering and Indoor Climb activity profiles.
  • Added support for Grit and Flow features for mountain biking activities. Grit measures the overall difficulty of a ride, and Flow measures how well you maintain your speed throughout the ride.
  • Improved optical heart rate performance.
  • Updated the look of the Alarm screen.
  • Updated the main workout data screen to indicate High, Low, or In Range for the current target.
  • Various other improvements and bug fixes.

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_509Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. From the RemoteSW folder in the unzipped download, copy the GUP3114.GCD and 006B310705.GCD into the \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder on your device.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-500.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-500.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  6. To downgrade your peripheral software, place the GUP3114-604.GCD and the 006B310705-440.GCD from the RemoteSW\Downgrades folder into your device's \GARMIN\RemoteSW folder.
  • haven't a prob with performance condition here, i ran always with Garmin HRM Run on this Beta

  • i tried some funny thing with SPO2 measurement, would be interesting, if it works for others too?

i disabled the 24hours SPO2 and i do some manual measurements during the day, but for the measurements i move the watch to the other side of my hand:

so i get always good results, after measurement i move the watch back to the normal position Nerd

EDITH: i mean, with this measurement i get as good results as with an external SPO2 Mesurement device i bought shortly Joy

  • Well, I'm back from my morning run using the HRM-Tri and performance condition worked this morning! I used the suggested workout feature too. I'm a happy camper. Guess it's time to switch back over to using the strap for the fall/winter/spring runs.

  • Not sure yet if is just me but I lost the running dynamics data from my pod after upgrading to 5.09 on my Forerunner 945. It shows as connected before run but no data shows post run when viewing on Garmin Connect. I will send report via email but was wondering if I am only one experiencing this issue.

  • My Running Dynamics Pod is working fine with 5.09, I had a few drop outs in data initially but the battery was low so I replaced it and it’s been fine since.

  • Thanks. I did a reset of my watch (holding power button for 15 seconds) and it now works, I am getting run dynamics data. Unfortunately I am also getting massive battery drain. I am resetting again and hoping for the best.

  • 1 instantaneous measurement may not be conclusive.

You should compare a set of daily data before and after.

  • I also had the same problem with stryd app. Not working after installing beta 5.09. Restarting the watch solved the problem.

  • Just got this notification after half a day spent resting (body battery went up too!). This is lovely...

  • I've been laying on the sofa for the whole day.. Status says "Improved by Good Rest", but have not gotten any notification like that.. it's +72 for body battery today.. Did bottom it out yesterday after 6 hours of rogaining, but it's still 46 hours of recovery, so maybe that's dependent on recovery being 24h?

And pressing that status open it says "Nice! Your restful day has speed up your"recovery. Your recovery needs are still high, so take it easy today."
