  • Added support for the Track Run activity, which allows you to record outdoor track data, including lap splits and distance in meters, on a standard shape 400m track.
  • Added support for Improved Recovery Time, which takes your stress, sleep, relaxation, and physical activity into consideration.
  • Added support for Bouldering and Indoor Climb activity profiles.
  • Added support for Grit and Flow features for mountain biking activities. Grit measures the overall difficulty of a ride, and Flow measures how well you maintain your speed throughout the ride.
  • Improved optical heart rate performance.
  • Updated the look of the Alarm screen.
  • Updated the main workout data screen to indicate High, Low, or In Range for the current target.
  • Various other improvements and bug fixes.

  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-500.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-500.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

  • My Polar H10 keeps loosing connection. It started on Firmware 5.00 and it’s still happening on 5.09. During my runs I often see HR going down to 10-40 beats for no reason. Last time it disappeared a few times showing “- -“. I replaced the H10 batter too but it didn’t help. I’ve just sent an email to the Garmin address above.

Does anyone have the same issue? It’s so frustrating....

  • I've reinstalled the app and now works. Great!

  • This Firmware is totally great, everything works fine for me, especially the suggested daily workouts is a bomb, thanks Garmin!

    i want to add something:

yesterday i made a Threshold Run as Garmin told me with "Today's Suggestion" and it's works totally good, i only ran a little bit to fast, so i got a Training Label "vo2max" instead of "Threshold", but i got a notification of Lactate Threshold Change to confirm and of course with my Stryd i got a CP change too, that means, both system (Garmin & Stryd) working together as they have to work! Sunglasses

  • I have an H10 as well but I don’t have any issue with it losing connection (on this FW or any previous). Do you have any other hr straps or watches to test if it is a watch issue or a strap issue?

i have mine connected on ANT+ not BT, if it matters.

  • Curious to hear what type of suggested workouts you get for running? Anyone of you guys who has installed the beta who has had time to try it out yet? Do you find it a useful feature?

  • I get lower pace recommendations for Running to build up longer distances (im running between 7-10km per run because biding have time to do more) and 2hours TE 2.5 rides to level my TE load better.

  • Rest most often :D And pretty short ones, like today threshold was 10min warmup, 22min at threshold, 10min cooldown. The other day it had 5x 10s sprints, with 3min recovery. Haven't done any suggestions. So we'll see. If the suggestions are always so short, dunno.

  • Mine said 30 minutes @ 5:10/km so I did 17km at 4:25/km. It said 30 again at 5:15/km so I did 20 minutes at 3:42/km. I have been injured so my watch does not know my fitness yet maybe

  • Im a professional firefighter. Night sleep at work is not the best because we have to get up sometimes. The watch recognizes this and suggests lower intensity workouts due to bad sleep. This reflects how I feel right in the moment after the last night.

I think, the overall direction with the new recovery time algorithm and the workout suggestions are going into the right direction.

  • My HR seems to be lower since I updated to 5.09 - not sure if related to colder temps this week or not so i’m Interested in your feedbacks : did your average in-activity HR changed with this release ?
