Forerunner 945 SW 5.00 is now live

This update can be downloaded with Garmin Express or automatically with Garmin Connect Mobile pending rollout. 

Change log: 

  • Added support for FE-C and Smart Trainer control. See options in Bike Indoor activity.
  • Added support for workout videos. The video files can be downloaded via Garmin Express or over WiFi. These videos will display when using an MSN workout that supports them. Download MSN workouts through Garmin Connect.
  • Added support for displaying courses to viewers of the user's LiveTrack sessions. Various other LiveTrack improvements
  • Added in-place editing of data fields
  • Added the Pause Training Status feature. Allows the user to suppress some training status feedback phrases and trends. Access the options from the Training Status widget menu or within Garmin Connect.
  • Added additional options to Live Event Sharing. Triggers added for Every Mile and Transitions (allowing for multisport use)
  • Numerous improvements to music experience, usability, and WiFi
  • Improved Incoming Call handling
  • Fixed problem with device spinning/freezing on activity save due to unintentional file build-up. Note: device will need to sync to Garmin Connect after software update to resolve this issue
  • Fixed problem where certain user's maps took an excessive amount of time to load on boot and were generally sluggish in use
  • Greatly improved Around Me search times
  • Updated numerous widgets to improve usability and look
  • Fixed inability of device to record longest swim PR
  • Moved Recovery HR to option on save/discard screen
  • Updated post-activity summary pages
  • Improvements to segments handling
  • Improvements/fixes for on-device weather. Fix instances of missing data.
  • Improvements to phone connectivity
  • Fixed HRV stress page layout
  • Fixed a few issues with Virtual Running and workouts
  • Various other improvements and bug fixes

    Fully agree on all points ..

    Also, true, I may pause briefly at an intersection or something like that, but more than 2 minutes is really unusual.

    Im on Holiday and not able to check the .fit file, but I believed it is saved like it was before? You only discarded the old Popup with ok, but it saved it anyway? Only connect is not able to show it.

    Having trouble syncing workouts since the update.  Forcing from the app and from the watch (over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi). Eventually connect.garmin.com showed a software update for a list of "<active> Videos, Version 2.00", shown below.  Afterwards, some reboots of my device and phone. I still couldn't sync workouts.  Eventually after much fighting and attempts I finally got the workout to show as a pending change on connect.garmin.com of my workout.  Multiple manual syncs later (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi), still haven't gotten the workout to sync.  Still hoping to get it to work but it really shouldn't take this long or this much effort.

    Oh, for heaven's sake. 

    The 945 wifi sync fails with "No internet connection", even though it's been assigned a 10.10.10.1/24 by the access point, and is ping-able from other LAN clients.

    The WiFI client appears to have been changed and hard-coded to ignore the DHCP assigned DNS server. If I open up port UDP/53 from the 945 on the firewall then it syncs fine. Not all networks allow clients to directly access external DNS; they have to go to the local [caching] DNS. 

    This HAS to be considered a fault, surely.

    I believe so also, but now you have to manually to wait 2minutes, there's no indication that recovery HR is ready. Or click click cklick click to select "Recovery HR", and then back, and click click click to select "Save". 

    It's really annoying process.

    someone knows after update to 5.0 all sensors doesn't work anymore?????

    No problems with sensors after update. Try turning it off and on again, or pressing power for 15s.

    last important question ....all ANT+ sensors works at the same frequency...Hrm-Tri,varia, vector have the same transfer/comunication protocol at the same frequency???
