Is the button issue resolved now?

After receiving a 945 a couple of months ago and seeing reports here of buttons not clicking that the up and down buttons on mine were quite squishy.

i didn't see much point exchanging at the time as replacements looked to be the same or worse.

Wondering at this stage if the issue has been fixed 100% or is it still current on new ones as otherwise this one is working ok.

For me the down button clicks if left a couple of seconds between pushes while the up button never clicks.

i'd like to know I'm getting one that's better before swapping otherwise it's not worth the inconvenience.

I'm in Australia if that makes any difference to the batches being sent out.

  • Hi Geri

I bought my 945 back on April 30th.  I've been reading all these post about faulty buttons and thought people were being nitpicky up until last week when my bottom left button started giving me problems.  I read your post and I decided to call the business I made my purchase from.  Sure enough, they've had many exchanges and they're replacing them with Rev D's with no reports of issues with that version.  I encountered no problems when talking with them and my new watch (no refurb) will be here this coming Tuesday.  I'm sure it's unauthorized, but I'm going to give them a plug anyway.  Thanks for great customer service HeartRateMonitorsUSA.com.

  • My back and light button start to get somehow stuck again now. I already replaced my Rev A with a C which I got from Garmin and they said they do not know about Revisions and any changes in Hardware or regarding buttons.

Now, just around 2,3 months after I got my replacement I have the same issues again. So at least another week without watch when I'll send it to Garmin and get a new one, hopefully not already just a refurbished one.

Guess the 945 is my second (935, 945) and last forerunner of Garmin or maybe last Garmin at all as no other model fits for me, but this 3rd world handling of Garmin with the 935/945 is no okay. I paid enough money for this piece of plastic.

  • Rev D since September and the buttons are very sticky with no proper click...

  • It's the holiday season.  Why are you bringing me down? Lol

  • Garmin and they said they do not know about Revisions and any changes in Hardware or regarding buttons.

That's interesting because this was posted 3 months ago.

We have made changes to the 945 based on earlier customer experiences and would advise anyone experiencing this to reach out to their local Support team (support.garmin.com) to get a replacement.

This makes no sense. At the very least someone was misinformed or misunderstood.  Is Garmin unaware of any changes to the buttons or have changes been made based on customer experiences?  Garmin-Blake will you clarify?

  • i can confirm this too - had my rev a replaced with a rev d mid october - now after 2 months of usage the clicky feeling started to degrade - the first button press is definitely not clicky but it gets better with the 2nd or 3rd one so i can live with this for now if it won't get worse (compared to the 1st 945 it's waaaaay better and i hadthe first one replaced after 2 months as well)

  • I know about the posting here, was the reason why I mentioned it at the Garmin support.

My back button almost does not work anymore at all. I always have to look at the watch to see if the button press did work, as there is no feedback of the button anymore  :-( super annoying

  • I thought people would forgive me, after all it's the holiday season Joy

  • I've recently opened a ticket with support for my rev. C watch. So at least for them it doesn't seem to be solved.

  • Not resolved at all. Second watch, and second time I have problems with the star/stop button. Really, really annoying.
