Is the button issue resolved now?

After receiving a 945 a couple of months ago and seeing reports here of buttons not clicking that the up and down buttons on mine were quite squishy.

i didn't see much point exchanging at the time as replacements looked to be the same or worse.

Wondering at this stage if the issue has been fixed 100% or is it still current on new ones as otherwise this one is working ok.

For me the down button clicks if left a couple of seconds between pushes while the up button never clicks.

i'd like to know I'm getting one that's better before swapping otherwise it's not worth the inconvenience.

I'm in Australia if that makes any difference to the batches being sent out.

  • I have the same as you, the blue one via a bundle that's a Rev A., and am happy with it. I wouldn't think you'd have any problems later as I don't expect to either. The buttons have worked the past 2 months with never a hiccup.

  • I received my watch a month ago as a replacement for one that was failing. And this week the power button began to feel strange, again like sticky, without clicking like the others, that you can hear three click or steps..

I even feel bad about complaining, I start to believe that it is normal functioning. I have Rev A.

  • I was very short of joy. These days the Power button started to fail, I even feel bad, but it is the first model that I have problems, I wanted it to last a lot, like the others.

  • I am in the UK and have been told by Garmin customer support that my problem with the buttons is a one-off as far as they are concerned!

I have also been told that if I return it I will receive a refurbished watch that someone else has returned. I don't feel this is a particularly attractive offer and probably won't bother. As UK customer service seems to be in the dark about the issue, it also seems a bit of a lottery that I will get a replacement (Revision D?)  that fixes it.

  • Laughable isn't it. Garmin can't get it reliably fixed on new ones how reliably can they fix their repaired ones.

They don't read these forums obviously to think the issue is isolated. Hang on they must know seeing they closed some of the previous earlier complaints.

Must admit I'm thinking the same currently keeping for the time being the one I have as much as it's disappointing. Could end up with something worse.

  • I asked local Garmin Support for official Info about the Button issues and different revsions.

"We dont have any information like that" was the only sentence i got when i wrote about Button issues and information from this official Garmin Forum and that its confirmed that Garmin changed the 945 because of that issues and with customer Feedback.

So at least the German Support does not really care and does not know what is.going on.

I hope my replacement will work now for the next years.

  • It doesn't inspire much confidence. Fortunately, I can live with the buttons as they are providing they don't get any worse. They are only occasionally (although usually at a critical moment) a real nuisance.

Of course, with a normal company selling a top-end sports watch, I wouldn't have to put up with the issue at all, but then Garmin - bless 'em - have never really been one of those, have they? [Insert appropriate smiley of your choice here]

  • I just received my 4th just last week...yes, 4th blue bundle replacement and am experiencing the same issue AGAIN! It's once again for me with the down button where when you haven't used it in a while and press it, sometimes it's hard to press in. It's as if it takes a lot of force to press it in and then after successive presses it seems to loosen up for a while and then the whole situation repeats itself after X amount of time without using the down button for a while. Sometimes when I press it initially nothing happens cause I'm not pressing it hard enough cause there's so much resistance. I'm at a loss of what to do. Like someone mentioned below, I hate complaining about this, but this is crazy. I'm not part of the Garmin QA team so shouldn't really be doing 'testing' for them. Can you tell I'm frustrated?!

  • According to GP lama (Shane Miller) on Youtube three fails and any product is out. And you've done one more than that. I personally don't think there is any definite fix. It's all BS I think and seeing that Garmin don't seem to admit it's a common issue that's probably true.

  • Former Member Were changes made to both the standard version and the blue triathlon bundle version? Per my comment below I just received my 4th replacement and this one is just as bad with the down button.
