How to switch map region in the 945

Hi....I ordered a forerunner 945 via a dutch site. But now I have the watch (came from Great Britain) but I don't see european maps in the watch. I can only reinstall north america maps so my guess is that it's actually a watch from a different region.

How can I deinstall the north america region and install the European region?

  • I contacted Garmin helpdesk about the Forerunner 945. They claim that it is not possible to ad additional maps. So i wonder if you were able to do so ?

Can you please tell me what capacity of storage this watch has ?

  • did you manage to delete maps of North America ?
what s the files name ?
    thanks
  • Hi, i haven't deleted the maps. I've just added the Netherlands and Germany maps. I don't need the extra storage space (don't listen to music via the watch for example). The tip is to copy paste the contents to elsewhere so you can always place it back. But the file names and sizes are not that strange that you can't figure it out which are probably which.

  • The "coverage of.." maps are golf maps. The retailer sold you a watch for America, not for Europe. Devices for Europe comes with preloaded TopoActiveEurope maps.

  • Ah ok didn't know about coverage being golf maps

I know about the us watch but I'm OK with that now seeing i paid way less than retail offered when i bought it. And the openmaps...maps work fine. Only use maps when on vacation anyway.

  • Savez vous si il est possible d'envelever les cartes américaines car elles ne m'intéressent pas

    Merci

  • Yes (but you better save them as a backub somewhere).

  • Thanks for this info. I've been holding out for EU watch prices to dome down (and they don't look like they are) so I can now buy a US watch, put the EU maps on it and it still works out cheaper.

I know you can get free maps, but after reading the DC Rainmaker guide, I'd prefer to stick to Garmin's own maps to get the topography layering and the colour scheme's look to the optimised for the watches screen.

  • A year ago, but I was looking around and found the same for a really sharp price. But now it states that North American-maps are installed on it. Guess it won’t bother me too much as for running I won’t use navigation and for the bike I use another device.
How’s your experience with the watch?

  • i bought such a watch but instaled the europe cards without probs. so i can navigate.

    The rest is the same
