Feedback Garmin Exchange on Mushy/sticky buttons

For those of you who got their watch exchanged by Garmin.
Please leave your feedback on the new device.

Help other forum users to make their choice between refund or exchange.

I went for a refund from Wiggle UK.

Happy sporting

This is an issue that is actively being investigated by the engineering teams responsible for the Forerunner 945.

If you are experiencing this issue, please reach out to your local product support team.

We will gladly work with you to get a replacement in your hands as soon as possible and may bring your device in for extra evaluation.

  • The original watch had the START button sticky (when pressed, it didn't return in the original position). Garmin changed the watch. The new watch functioned perfect for one week. No the down button sometimes is sticky, sometimes not.

Due to sticky buttons I sent my 945 back to Garmin Germany. The 6th and 7th of June, delivery service met nobody at Garmin Puchheim. 3rd try was successfull and it was delivered on 11th of June.

I got a confirmation mail. But nothing else happened. Status for replacement is still 'not sent'.

Just curious, how long you did wait for replacement device? As I sold my 935 when I got my 945, I'm not happy with the situation.

Had the sticky button discussion as well.

Mailed support and after two weeks of waiting got the answer that "buttons are designed like that to avoid getting pressed during activity -> that means quality".

In the meantime my OHR started to develop cracks.

So I turned over to SportScheck (where I bought) and initiated a replacement. According to their information the watch is being sent in and checked by Garmin before I maybe can get a refund or exchange.

That process will take four to six week *sigh*

    Good luck with yours

  • Will respond here as soon as I'll get feedback (or a watch)

About to give up on my replacement unit. Was going okay, but my down button has become unacceptable and inconsistent. Sticks, doesn't stick, etc.

I really like the watch otherwise or at least it's potential on paper and don't want to give up on it just yet. Are there any home remedies that other's have tried that work and led to watch bliss with their 945s? I though I saw something about soaking in water or running under shower.

  • Just want to add this exchange was with Retailer not Garmin Direct.

    thx, noted Slight smile

  • I'm in the same boat - I dont want to swap for a third just yet if a) it can be fixed by some method; or b) it is confirmed new units dont have this problem

  • Just want confirm, that I got a replacement device. No sticky buttons, crossing fingers!

  • RMA'd my 945 with Garmin Australia. Took 7 business days from receipt of delivery to new watch in my hand.

I specifically asked that they check the watch's buttons before sending it, was told they would. Maybe they did, maybe they didnt, either way all buttons feel uniformly  nice. If iwas a little picky, the down button has a mild second click if you havent used if for minutes... but still very much better than my original watch.

Only time will tell if it's a better batch or not.
