Pool Swim - Randomly does not record distance

Hi,

How do I log a support ticket with Garmin? I am based in the UAE but bought my Forerunner 945 LTE through Amazon US since the LTE watch is not available here, so I cannot get local support.

My watch is randomly deciding not to record distance on the Pool Swims. Then I have to restart the watch, after which it will usually record distance when I start a new session. A few times I've had to restart the watch twice before it would record distance. This is really irritating because it happens randomly, so sometimes I'm already 200m or 300m into my warmup before I realize the watch is not recording distance.

I'm aware of kicking hard off the walls, I don't have an issue with this because when it is recording distance, my laps are always accurate.

    Happened to me today, so very frustrating!!!  I didn’t figure it out until I was don’t swimming a long hard workout, because I always trust the watch is working as it should Rage

    Strange and frustrating indeed.

    This thread has been inactive for around 2 years and I personally have not seen it in likely even a bit longer than that.  Any chance you have some really old firmware?  It's probably worth reaching out to Garmin Support to investigate.

    Happened to me this week. I have FR955 on that current firmware. Halfway through my swim, the distance would always be zero. Stopped the activity and started a new one but still didn't work. Logged the rest as drills.

    Same problem here today FR 255. I've recorded dozens of swims this year and only ever had a few missed lengths. Today I started a swim and on the third length saw it was recording 0 lengths.  I started counting manually but after 60 lengths still not a single lap recorded.

    I haven't drained the battery or reset the watch in a long time. I'm on manual update too and it hasn't updated in a while I'm on version 19.18 firmware. Interestingly even if I check for new software it says there is none even though I know there is 20.xx firmware out there - a friend with auto update on got it a month or so ago for his FR255.

    Anyway following other people's suggestion I have power cycled the watch and will see if lengths are recording again next time I swim.  I will report back...
