Bugs in 4.16 :/

So, I saw these issues in the 4.07 beta, but I was hoping at least some of them would be fixed in the production release.

- Cannot Pan/Zoom map page during a paused run activity (after the activity has been started). Around Me and Save Location are also missing from the menu. This seems to really limit the usefulness of the map page. (This is not during navigation, if it makes a difference.) All of these options are available while the activity is unpaused.

- Connect IQ data field apps always believe the background color is white, even if it's actually black. (This causes all the text in Stryd Power Zones to be invisible, because it's also black): https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/discussion/277505/datafield-getbackgroundcolor-returns-color_white-when-background-is-black-945-lte

- Strength app doesn't remember weight from previous set. (The weight is always reset to zero, which means that you have to edit every set.)

- Stopwatch time and laps are invisible after starting stopwatch, pressing UP (for options), selecting Go to Watchface, then returning to the stopwatch. (The time reappears when you pause the stopwatch, but disappears when you restart it. Apparently, the only way to get the time and laps to display again (while the stopwatch is running) is to reset the stopwatch.

On a more positive note, at least the bug has been fixed where CIQ data fields crash and restart when you return to the watchface during an activity.

  • New bug found. When scrolling music holding the down button to scroll faster it brings up the music screen again instead of scrolling through the list.

This happens with maps too, holding down to pan it brings up the music instead of panning

  • Notification arrives on the watch.  Press the backlight so you can see the notification if it's dim lighting.  Notification disappears.  Pressing the backlight effectively clears the notification.

  • Another Bug: Can't disable prompt for Suggested Workout and it takes two button presses before returning to Suggested Workout screen.

  • Another Bug: Can't scheduled workouts for day of after Midnight UTC regardless of local time.  Example: 4pm PT/12am UTC.  Have been bugging Support about this with the 945 and has yet to be resolved.  Only difference I see from the 945 is the 945 LTE shows 4am for all the scheduled workouts in the Calendar Widget that might suggest an attempt at maybe resolving this.

If they can't resolve this easily they need to add a time attribute that would also organize the workouts.

  • Call it another bug, missing feature, oversight:  There is no Multisport Distance field only Multisport Time.

  • Not directly related to this thread, but I noticed that when I change CIQ app settings in the Connect IQ app:

    - if there's an available update, the update banner covers the Save button so you have to dismiss the banner to save your settings

    - if you press X on the banner to try to dismiss it, it actually takes you to another page which shows you all your updates

    - once you dismiss that page, you can finally save your settings

I also noticed that if you have more than one device paired with Connect IQ:

    - There doesn't seem to be a way to unpair the old device (I never tried uninstalling and reinstalling Connect IQ tho)

    - If you're looking at a CIQ app installed for the 2nd device, when you switch to a different phone app and return to Connect IQ, Connect IQ suddenly acts as if you were dealing with the 1st device. This is obvious if the 2nd device has the CIQ app installed, but the 1st device does not (because the Settings button changes to Install). I imagine it would be even worse if both devices had the app installed, because then you could conceivably change settings for the wrong device, if both were connected.

Just the lack of attention to detail that I've come to expect...

  • New bug: Calendar widget is displaying Yesterday's (Sun) Workout as Today's (Mon).  Yet it doesn't auto prompt as Today's workout and shows up as yesterday in Training Calendar.

  • Ascent/descent data field freezes and doesn't update, a change screen and return updates the value. Vertical speed also freezes or shows high values when i'm not moving.

  • Not exactly a bug, but maybe not a great design decision: when you use the onscreen keyboard, the light button is mapped to the space character, and it still works as the light button.

So if your backlight was on, and you enter a space, now your backlight is off. I guess it's not a huge deal since the next keypress will turn the backlight back on (if you have it set up that way), but just another little annoyance.

  • Certain CIQ apps, like Stryd Zones, seem to crash for no reason when you add them to an activity that has another CIQ app. If you remove both apps and add them back in the opposite order, it works (sometimes).

It's frustrating because ofc Garmin automatically removes apps from your activity when they crash on startup.
