Bluetooth headphones disconnecting

Hey all,

I'm having issues with the connection to my headphones disconnecting randomly (but usually only once in the first five or so minutes of my run). I had a FR245 music before and bought the 265 hoping to solve the issue. Since it didn't, I also bought new headphones, but the problem still exists. There was one small improvement though: the 245 would often hang for a few minutes trying to reconnect and often it would fail to do so while the 265 seems to at least handle the reconnection better. I only use the Spotify app for playing music.

Does anyone recognize this or have suggestions to fix?

  • Same issue with 265S in combination with Philips AM61 using Spotify with a downloaded playlist. I live near a public airport and had it once in the past while jogging around it. That was over half a year ago. The past 2 months I have it every time (different lap) around 4 times an hour sometimes less, sometimes more.

    Update 21-01-2025:

Yesterday it was unworkable. I had an update to 21.22, maybe that is related. It started after about half an hour and every 1 to 1,5 minute it disconnected. I was able to reconnect a couple of times, but eventually I was unable to get the headphones connected. I was jogging so pretty hard and frustrating to deal with this.

  • I’m having the exact same problem. Does anyone know how to solve that? I have already tried everything that I found as a possible solution but it doesn’t work.

  • This is amazing. A two year old problem of basic functionality that Garmin refuses to fix. How can I get a replacement watch?

  • Garmin doesn’t care. I was emailing them about this two years ago when I got the new watch and they never really bothered to dig into it. I gave up. It works once in awhile. Or not at all and disconnects every two minutes. It’s ridiculous really. And I’m using AirPod Pro so it’s not like I bought a five dollar set from Five Below. Garmin your move??

  • Garmin pushed that in the latest beta for FRx55/x65

    • Fix an issue with skipping tracks using Apple Airpods Pro 2.
  • What is the new beta operating system version number you're referring to? I hope it works. Though I'm learning to not hold my breath. I have the Airpods 4.

  • The newest beta does indeed allow AirPods to play as they should. Thank you to Garmin developers for fixing this. I I respectfully ask management to consider why it took two years to fix this fundamental feature flaw.
