I have my Forerunner 255 configured to display the date on the watch face. There's a ring around the date, but then also another partial ring around it, offset to the right. What in the heck is this, and what's it telling me??

Have a look here:

Thanks - consensus there is that it's a bug, with no definitive reply from Garmin (or anyone). But I'm not so sure - I notice that the arc length of the 2nd offset curve grows every day - seems like it might be proportional to day of the month? Meaning - on the last day of the month it'll lengthen to close to a fiull circle then start over again the next day on the 1st. Not sure about that but if that is what it's doing then it seems to be indicating something...
It seems like they are trying to fix it in the beta version.
Hi there, yes exactly as stated. This is the proportion of the whole (target) value. For steps this is the part of the daily goal of steps for example. I noticed this ugly shifting, too. It used to be one ring that was just thicker in the completed area.
All,
Please look at the new change logs I have posted for the next software release. This is fixed in the 24.12 version.
Confirmed, the offset is fixed in 24.12, but still doesn't tell me - what does this "proportion of the whole target value" tell me? On mine the target value seems to be the day of the month - I don't track steps, and the ring resets on the 1st of the month. Why? What purpose??
It probably tells you how much of the month has passed. Why? I don't know!
You can probably set it to show some parameter that is more interesting for you.
