partial ring around date

I have my Forerunner 255 configured to display the date on the watch face. There's a ring around the date, but then also another partial ring around it, offset to the right. What in the heck is this, and what's it telling me??

Thanks - consensus there is that it's a bug, with no definitive reply from Garmin (or anyone). But I'm not so sure - I notice that the arc length of the 2nd offset curve grows every day - seems like it might be proportional to day of the month? Meaning - on the last day of the month it'll lengthen to close to a fiull circle then start over again the next day on the 1st. Not sure about that but if that is what it's doing then it seems to be indicating something...

It seems like they are trying to fix it in the beta version.
