Always using build in open water swimming app (original garmin), it's…
Same here. Today 2 open water swim activities; FR255 has registered stroke rate in one of them, but not in the other. GPS and distance worked well, but strokes count doesn't.

Maybe it is a bit early to assume it is a firmware bug. Has anyone else encountered the issue? The GPS issue (also only reported by one person) does not seem related.
I had the same issue but in poll swimming, it started working again, but not like it was before.
I'm also having issues with GPS on running activities. The elevation and power data does not work, it keeps 0 the entire activity even when I'm running in places with a lot of elevation variation

And same here. As of this summer, my FR255 records strokes only on some of my swimming activities.
Same problem in Croatian Sea. 8 open Sea swim 3 with strike count 5 with 0 strike. Always swimming in Freestyle the Watch with the previous firmware counted strokes well.
