Does software version 18.23 drain battery quickly? I am currently using Garmin forerunner 255 tidal blue and software version 18.22
I noticed massive drain after the update overnight. Turned off the pulse ox and did a restart. The battery drain came down but much higher than it used to be. In my experience I had about 5-6 days until I needed a charge with my minimal exercise. Now with the pulse-ox off I get between 2-3 days
Yeah. Same here. On my 965 I’d reckon battery drain is at least twice as fast as previously. Before I would last a week+, with 3 hours of gps work outs and swims. Now I need a recharge in 3 days. Garmin please fix this. Or does anyone have any idea how I get back to 17.xx? Thanks
As usual, results may vary (dramatically)... I don't see any unusual drain on my FR255 non-music after the update. But, I did do the hard restart after the update, as I've learned to do from this forum over the past year.
With non-music, I don't have wifi. I also don't keep bluetooth enabled, so avoid a whole set of features that might be misbehaving for others? The other main thing I don't use is the pulse-ox sensor. Just 24x7 heartrate and sleep monitoring, plus daily "walk" or "hike" activities.
I'm currently on about day 6 and 13 hrs with 66% battery charge remaining. That's with about 1 hour of "all systems" walks per day.
I have connected it to USB for perhaps 5 minutes total over the past week, while playing with side-loaded watchfaces. I am quick in and out, but may have added 3-5% to the battery from all these events combined.
I have been trying to replicate this battery drain with different conditions during the last month and I seems to fi d correlation between the overnight drain and leaving the internet connection on on the phone.
Basically I have android phone with latest GC, and if I have the WiFi/mobile net in fit the night I get 20% drain from the watch (I have spo2 on for sleep).
If I disable the internet or the Bluetooth on the phone I get only approx. 5% which is realistic. This seems that the watch somehow syncs constantly over night if internet is available. I was wondering about the people's experience here that have this battery drain issue.
