I’ve not been impressed, there’s like 2 new ones with limited customisation options. I’d like my steps, weather, baro, sun event, date, all fairly easy to do on the likes of Instinct 2 or F7 can’t be done on 255

You need to look at more watch faces in the CIQ app store. There are some that look really good on the 255. have little impact on battery life, and that can be customized on the watch itself without using…
... don't scale that well to the resolution of the 255, are laggy, eat up your battery life ...

I've tried some of the faces mentioned and most of them are laggy and also look terrible from both a design and a readability perspective. You can't even exit the widget glances without dropping loads…
There are lots of good faces on the CIQ app store that are light on battery usage. Here are a few of my favorite ones on my 255s ASAP, Summit V3, 40+ and Easy round.
